Hi,
I only got 1 key with car, planning to get a new key cut seems a nightmare ! Bring back the level of technology that my 1st car had !!!! (Morris Marina 1.3).
Correct me if I am wrong, but will this work ?
1) Get "car pass" from Vauxhall ...................?20
2) Buy a "used" key fob from eBay ...............?10
3) Buy a blank key blade from eBay .............?10
4) Get ...
I believe once a fob has previously been programmed to a car, then it can't then be programmed to another car.
In short, 2nd hand fobs can't be reprogrammed to work on another car.
Happy to be proved wrong. Just repeating what I've previously read on the subject.
from my experience second hand remote fobs can be reprogrammed to another car ie the central locking plip the thing that cant be reprogrammed to a new car is the transponder which is in the key blade and disables the immobiliser, these are write once, there is a seller on ebay called keys2please I believe they can supply the needed key blades brand new and cheap

This was for the older type fobs. In the newer type flick type fobs it's on the circuit board somewhere I believe. As before though, it doesn't require any power from the battery - ...
Yep, the Immob transponder is an RFID chip like those that set off the door alarm when you've nic - I mean forgotten to pay for something at Tesco's. Passive RFID's are write once & active ones are re-programmable. I have no idea if newer Vx immob RFID's are active, nor (other than Vx) where you'd get a correct blank passive one & have it programmed to your car.
Hi,
Got a local auto locksmith to cut me a new blade and he also programmed the Astra imobiliser and got the central locking going too.
Cost was £75 excl VAT.
All from the back of his van, he came to my work to do the job. Great service, http://www.invictuslocks.co.uk/ if anyone looking for same service.
