someone told me that custom soundtracks were patented by microsoft. thus perventing sony from using them. is this true?
if so what do u think about it.
Somehow I highly doubt that, that would be like saying turning the music off and playing something on the radio was patented. I also doubt it because there are a very select few PS3 titles that utilize it, I believe Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is one of them.
UNIVERSAL CUSTOM SOUNDTRACK is patented by microsoft, but games that use it from their SKU or somethin like that, like some games do is not patented
but a systeme like 360's were u pop open the menu and u can choose music with all games movies and everything is patented i think

you cant patent something like that as easy as you might think, its the same thing with cross game ...
There is no proof either way, I personally think that Sony just haven't added the software needed for OS custom music yet..which is why we rely on the devs.
Microsoft does own the patent:

Remember patents do not mean you simply can't do it, you just have to pay the person who owns the patent, which I doubt Sony would want to do. So they found their own loophole of getting around it by allowing developers to make the decision.
I still don't see why ...

Someone fix this...
This was considered the reason why there is so many issues (cross game chat, custom soundtracks)

your wish,
my command
I've now patented posting within forums, so you guys have to pay me. :3 Seriously though, I don't buy it, what I do buy is that Sony have either; 1) Not made the software needed for OS music support or 2) Decided to leave it up to the devs indefinitely. I hope it's first one because I really want OS music support.

Yeah, seriously doubt its true.

Sony could just rename it with in-game user sound tracks... Killzone 2 supports custom soundtrack during MP...
