Thread: Cross Disolve not working

Started 2 months, 3 weeks ago by htown
I have taken a long scene, cut it in two and now I want to add a Cross Disolve between the two. I am draging the Disolve effect onto the cut and it places it just fine. But when I go to view it, it is llike nothing is there. I hav eplaced other disolves in the same place for testing purposes, like the page turn, and it wokd fine. What am I doing wrong? Many thanks, Houston...

You have forgotten to read about handles in the help file. You need overlap (extra frames) between the clips for dissolve or any other transition to work properly.

if you kinda think about it, a disolve is not much more than a cross fade between two clips. If you cut a clip in two and disolve from the 1st half to the other half, what do you think you will see? Nothing. Cause you are fading right back in where you left off. Try it with 2 different clips and you will see the effect....

After you have cut the clip you forgot to trim one of the clips so that the scene would change. Other wise you are dissolving or crossfading to the same scene and that is why you don't see any changes except when 3D effect style is used.
