Thread: Criticisms of Norv?

Started 2 months ago by hotdogjohnny
I have seen in a number of other posts references to problems people had with Norv's playcalling today. I thought he did a great job. He had to call a lot of passes because the running game is horrible and LT has no gas in the tank. Overall, what were the criticisms of him today? I say his best calls of the season came today. Including waiting to the end to use the up and out from Sproles out of...

The reverse was a horrible call. Let PR throw the ball when the game is on the line....actually, that whole series of 3 straight runs with no pass AT ALL when we were losing...those were all bad. However, I will say that I thought there were some excellent calls made, including the pass to Sproles on the winning drive.

That 3rd and 5 reverse was awful. It brought out shades of the end of the Baltimore game for me. Rivers was hitting targets and to take it out of his hands in a very makeable situation down 3 and in Giants territory made me throw up in my mouth a little bit.

The reverse was a good call. The problem was the right end of the Giants line delayed it enough to keep the weak side end in on the play so he could blow it up. If the hand off is clean, big play.

Didn't like the LT up the gut play after he stumbled for 5 on 1st down. Didn't think the reverse was necessary on 3rd down on the same drive. Other than that I didn't mind the play calling too much.

So this about 3 or 4 plays at that the most that are considered bad? Tough to say he had a bad game for 3 or 4 plays out of 40.

No. You can run when you aren't in a running formation. We have not been able to run out of the I all season. Spread them out and run from...
