A poster on one of the local Bay Area boards put it best (and Torgaman hits the same button) when he said "I'm not their demographic." It's
clear I'm at least twice the age of the target audience for the program, so it's not the kind of show I'd have prefered. In their defense, the
boozy format of the show is a generational extension of the old Jim Gabbert days on KOFY 20, when movies were ...
Here's another little treat for the Feep fans here.
Image courtesy of Robert Deveau and Bob Polio. Robert told me that Bob spent many hours looking at old Boston Herald issues to find this.
Feep was portrayed by Ed McDonnell who was better known to Boston viewers as beloved kids show host Major Mudd. I made a lot of phone calls to try and track
down footage of Feep but none ...
hey SAT after seeing your Fantasmic Features with Feep, Boston's Horror Host thread and watching that great video I think PIX should show ATTACK OF THE
CRAB MONSTER ( but I've been drinking so...).
If WPiX just went with a title card I'd be happy. Now that MMH has polluted
the New England airwaves with its droll humor, I prefer my movies pure as
possible ... UNLESS they're MySTified!
BTW, MMH has another goodie tonight ... "I Bury the Living." Never seen
this one either! Good movie picks on their part.
Coming up:
"Silent Night, Bloody Night"
That's a VCR recording FO' ...
y'now I didn't like Morgus all that much when he was on in NYC in the 80's but now that I have no host here ( and havn't in many years),
I'd take Morgus in a second!!!

I read that when he took the job Fred Gwynne was upset with him because Gwynne wanted people to forget he ever did that part because he was typecast by producers and directors so when Al Lewis started hosting as Grandpa he felt it would once again pigeon hole him as Herman Munster. There was apparantly other people at Turner Broadcasting who didn't like the idea of Granpa Munster hosting Godzilla movies. And to once again tie the Big G to...
I've always considered Al Lewis (Grandpa) on Super Scary Saturday to be "my" horror host. He showed Godzilla and Toho kaiju films all the time, which of course was right up my alley. I also loved the skits he did, such as "Last Blood: Slimbo" to coincide with his showing War of the Gargantuas . Apparently, he didn't like being a horror host too much, but I gotta say he was always my favorite.
Watched it, it wasn't bad, but I agree that the special effects are a bit of a pain. They did indeed show King Kong Escapes, a really nice widescreen print too. My theory is that either RTV or some network of theirs in the past acquired a movie library and they are allowed to borrow from that.
Oh Come All Ye Dreadful! Just in time for the Holidays, 'Penny Dreadful's Shilling Shockers' Season 7 is now available. The box set comes with seven discs, each featuring the hosting segments as well as a feature-length film of terror. The first four episodes consist of a macabre continuing storyline wherein I begin to age into an old hag and must acquire the three deadly ingredients for my elixir of youth, all while hosting...
