I just talked to an x nortel engineer and he mentioned the same things gwebster did. Thanks for all of the help it all makes sense now.

Express Messaging is the same as any direct call to Meridian Mail. If the M2250 is local to the EM (MMail), then the digits go over the signaling link and DTMF is not used.  If the M2250 is remote, then you need EES to generate the DTMF digits.

thanks for all the tips.Here is what is happening.We had At&t long distance which went out route 20 rli 1.My local routes are route 0 ril 0.All I did was changed the rli on route 20 to be rli 0.That way when you make a long distance call it routes to 0.You get a LD tone and put in your code and the call goes out.When the console has someone call from in house to have them transferred out to a LD number the console gets the tone and...

The attendant console does not have a transfer key because it is not a telephone set, and does not behave like one.  To transfer a caller on an active loop key, you simply dial the digits of the destination, then release the loop key. As far as I know, the console must have an ees key in order to generate DTMF tones.

The only time you need a ees key on a console is when you need to dial supplemental digits on a trunk call, such as the scenario that "hblack" describes above. In this case, I would verify that the button labeled ees is in fact programmed as a ees key. If that doesnt work, compare the programming of your two trunk routes, and programming of a sample trunk in each route. There may be a timer, or feature that is preventing the access...
