Thread: Confirmed: Bernard Hopkins had a thyroid issue vs. Joe Calzaghe

Started 2 months, 2 weeks ago by Intellectual 1
Jan 2009 issue of the ring magazine. Here is some of it I typed out a couple weeks ago: "Asked what the difference was between the hopkins that beat pavlik and the one he trained for the close loss to calzaghe, Roach replied, "I'm not sure. He has a thyroid problem and Mackie Shillstone tried to control it with diet for the Calzaghe fight. I've talked to doctors and that's pretty hard to ...

What kind of "thyroid issue" are we talking about ? Can you precise please ?

RawlyPiff replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago

There's no surprise for those who follow B-Hop, it's just a known fact that Calzaghe SDd a 43 yr old Hopkins who was less than 100%. I could only imagine what would've happened in the rematch...no wonder Cal retired to be a dancer

U still mad after 17 months?

ulster86 replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago
Another source said it was months before the Calzaghe fight and obviously a minor issue. Minor thyroids can be treated in a couple of weeks. If you watch the countdown to Calzaghe-Hopkins it shows Hopkins going through the most intense camp of his career...a guy with a problematic thyroid issue couldn't do that sh1t. Another weak excuse from the Hopkins fans...is there a loss they don't bitch ...

This should be in the history section.

Hopkins two days before the fight "There’s no point me talking about what shape I am in because I am always in the best shape of my life ,” he added. “Even my harshest critics have to bow down to that. Times have changed, 43 is the new 32 , 43 certainly isn’t what 43 was in the 60s and 70s. Especially for me. “I love the game of boxing and I never have days off where I let my ...

LOL...you were spamming the forum for months with bullshit about Hopkins being "the fittest man in boxing" and having the body of a "Greek God". It's all in the 'Official Calzaghe-Hopkins' thread. Tommy even posted all the quotes a few weeks ago and we all had a good laugh at them. Show me once where Hopkins has said anything other than he was in great shape. That shouldn't be too hard...

Ex, those stats are for both fighters but Hopkins initiated the majority of the clinches anyway.

Truth is, that victory of Cal versus Nard has to be the most underrated in recent history. LOL I was more excited in that fight, seeing Nard look like a fool then in Pac's last two fights. Seriously.

That is why he fought like a coward and cheated and clinched and didn't get dq'd for his rough tactics. Oh, I thought he cheated like a bitch because he was trying to slow down a fighter who has fast hands and throws more punches then anyone Hopkins has ever fought. I guess he had a thyroid case against Taylor too. And probably against Wright too since he fought like a bitch against Wright aswell.
