There are a lot of babies in an u/s that have those white spots on their heart & they grow out of them & they disappear, I wouldn't worry about that...My cousin also went thru what you are going thru with Downs...They told her all that & she opted not to do the amnio...Her son was born perfectly fine!!! I wouldn't count on it either....at 11 weeks boy and girl genitalia still look very much the same. Usually around week 14 is when it is very apparent what is what because in boys the increase of testosterone (around 11-12 weeks). I wouldn't put any stock into it at this point. It depends on doctor to doctor, it could also be that he wants to monitor you closer for now because you're new and so far along. I wouldn't worry to much about it. Rather have your doctor taking extra care of you then not enough. All the best!
