Thread: Concealed Carry Clothing.. Your take on it

I see a lot of nice stuff, especially at the NRAstore.com as far as Concealed carry jeans, shirts, jackets and vests and even underware. I am considering a CC Vest but since I carry a mid size (4") 357 magnum revolver I am concerned that it will be obvious if one side of the vest droops lower than the other. I prefer more power so I carry a heavy Ruger. As Patrick Sweeny says, more is better ...
I've been carrying a handgun just about every day since 1968. I have used just about every type of holster and other means of carrying, including pocket holsters, vests, and jacket pockets.
I think that you will find that the vests and jackets will do exactly as you described (drooping down) when you put a medium to large handgun in the intended place. In addition, that drooping will result ...

Just a thought, but I have carried in a vest. Is is not perfect, but on the bike, it is about as good as it gets. My CCW is a Kimber ultra and I just balance it out on the other side with 2 to three loaded mags, my cell phone etc. It really does a pretty decent job.
Check out Coronado Leather for a really nice one

Vests are something I'd be careful about. Maybe it's just me, but to me, they just scream "GUN". Also, depending on where you're from, they also don't really fit in. They just seem too redneck or fisherman-like if you are in any major city.
I'd consider the open button shirt option first. They blend in to almost any environment, and it's not too hard to hide most handguns under those.

Search for a thread "Clothing lines that lend well to concealed carry." I think that the last post was in August 2009. You will find a number of options and suggestions.

I personally haven't found a need for altering my style of dress in order to accommodate concealing a handgun. I am 5'9", about 165lbs and wear fairly well fitted clothing (and in Southern AZ that means a t-shirt or lightweight button up shirt most times of the year), and I have never had a problem with printing or my firearm becoming otherwise visible. This might be in part due to the firearm ...

Coronado Leather makes extremely high quality leather concealed carry clothing. Give them a long, strong look. A word to the wise. High quality = high price but Coronado stuff will last doggone near forever.
Vests scream gun to anyone who knows what they are looking for, BG's included. The only place I wear my carry vest is to or from an IDPA match.
You can pretty much get away with anything with the right IWB rig and an untucked button up, polo, or sweat shirt. You can really get away with anything if your climate mandates a jacket.
