Like many on here I am new to Salesforce and wanting to integrate my Mac calendar and address book with Salesforce.com. I have tried SF3 but just get a message to say it wants to delete most of my contacts on the Mac. In other words it wants to sync Salesforce with the Mac, but in doing so remove the data on the Mac. Is there a way to stop this taking place and do a true sync? I am using...

is anyone else having problems with mail drop not including attachments or text???   when we use mail drop and the add email function, it merely creates a new task with the email subject as the title in salesforce and does not include any of the body text or attachments from the original email.   we've tried reinstalling the mail drop scripts, with no change in behavior.   we are ...

Do the attachments show in the add email dialog box? are they checked ? what version of OSX are you running ?

catscramblu replied 3 months ago
hi, simon.  thanks for the reply.  yes, i can see the file names in the email dialogue box and they are checked.  in multiple attachment messages, i've tried unchecking one to see if it makes a difference.  it does not.  my mail.app messsages are set to html.  not sure if using plain text would make a difference.  i'm running osx 10.4.11.

There seems to be some issues getting the text representation of the email body from mail.app via applescript for certain types of messages, not entirely sure what the issue is. You know that the attachments will appear on the who/what selected in the attachments list, and not on the activity itself, right ?

so far, we have had zero success with text.  the attachments upload sometimes on accounts and never on leads.  we see the attachments in the notes and attachments section for accounts, but can't seem to find the similar section in leads.

I am a novice user to Salesforce but I have noticed that most of the programs are designed for PC's and not Mac's. I just opened something and it said that Salesforce doesn't support Safari... Huh? I also am not a huge fan of the mail drop program as it's an extra step that seems to be clunky... All of these experiences make me use Salesforce less than I should, but it's too ...

I'm working with a Salesforce partner and we're using Macs almost exclusively. Never had any issues with either Safari, Firefox or Camino for that matter (Camino seems to be the fastest browser for working in Salesforce). There might be some third-party applications that require Windows but so far I could do without them. As for mail drop: on a PC you'd have to install the Outlook ...

Call support ask them to enable enhanced mailmerge for your account, it'll then do all the mailmerge server side, no requirement to have IE.

Are you using Mail or Entourage? what email format is your email client configured for sending outbound emails ? Have you checked in the console log for anything interesting ?

I am using Apple Mail in OS 10.4.11, not Entourage. I am not too computer literate, so would need more specifics from you about what you want from the Apple Mail setup and the console log.   Cheers, David

Hi,   I want salesforce contacts in my addressbook but I don't want my personal addressbook contacts put back onto salesforce.  Does anyone know a way setup a one way sync, a selective sync, or export the contacts and import manually?   Thanks, Adrian.

I am looking for a one way sync tool for the Calendar from Salesforce to iCal.  SF3 works well, but I do not want to risk someone syncing Calendar events and contacts back to SF.

Thanks so much for the quick reply.  I really love Maildrop.  It made life so much easier, because I had no way to link emails once I switched to Mac.  I can live without the Send & Add button.  Thanks!

As already mentioned elsewhere, the 3 ways of attaching an email to a case (Salesforce, Maildrop, and Outlook Edition) use different rules to select the 'closed' status to set on the task/activity they create.   It might be a good idea to set this in the Preferences of Maildrop or, even better, have this in the settings of Salesforce.com, accessible via the metadata API for Maildrop and the outlook Edition to read and use....

I did a search on this issue and couldn't find and solid results, but is their a way to get the "Salesforce" calendar to somehow sync over-the-air via Exchange? (just downloaded SF3 and am testing SF Enterprise Edition, but desperately want to SF3 to work with our iPhones!)  I will hit the Exchange/iCal forum, but I thought someone here might have run into this issue.   Thanks for any assistance!
