Thread: Comcast cable modems are garbage

lol... so I was detuned with my previous modem? So how does Comcast regulate what speed of the internet package you buy from them, is it on there end or my end (modem)?

I'm not really sure. My dad got that 3-for-1 deal with Comcast that includes phone, TV, and Internet. $99/month.

Which service did you guys sign up with and how much is it? I checked the website, but they don't list the price of the cable internet by itself. I signed up with Uverse a couple of months ago, but might switch back to cable.

So, if you buy one of these modems, whats to say comcast still cant cap your service? I know right now i have the 6mbs service and paying for the damn modem. Would i just go buy this and take the rented one back and tell em, hey.. i got my own, kiss my ass?

I've had Uverse for over a year now, and no problems at all until this week. I'm actually thinking about getting Comcast again, but I probably won't. AT&T is pissing me off, though.

I have comcast and love their speeds, HOWEVER i always think that they invented their "Powerboost" just to fuck with speed benchmarks. Powerboost is an extra download speed just for the first few megs so that people downloading small files get them really quickly. People downloading big files download at a much slower rate. Since these speed tests send just a small file back and forth, it will read much higher than normal...
