Thread: Color

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by Visser12
I am new to 3D models in PDF.  Is it possible to add color to the model? Specifically add seperate colors to different objects in the model.

You can extend some of the PDF capabilites, such as 3D Measurement and Commenting, by using one of the following methods: With the PDF open, go to Comments > Enable for Commenting and Analysis in Adobe Reader... -or- With the PDF open, go to Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader... Either one of these will make the PDF behave the way you want it to.  I'm not sure exactly what ...

Hello The Procedure: I import CAD drawings into Acrobat and create beautiful 3D models...so far so good The Problem: The model hierarchy can not be blocked. I would like to display only 1 model in the model hierarchy, so that no parts can be hidden by customers how can this be done? Hi all,    I am trying to use the 3D capture tool in Acrobat. It worked fine with my application until today. When I tried to capture. There is a pop window saying    "An error occurs during 3D capture.     Capture settings for this application may be unadapted."    What does it mean? It is weird because it works fine yesterday. Thanks, Mengda...

Hello Mengda, Did you try using other conversion settings ? thanks William

Hi William, My company paid for the upgrade to Acrobat Pro Extended from Acrobat 3D, specifically for the fix for the CADDS to 3D PDF to STEP conversion process.  Unfortunately the problem is not fixed in Acrobat Pro Extended 9. The 2x5x10 inch CADDS 5 solid model that I imported into APEX 9 and then exported to STEP is still dimensionally incorrect.  Instead of measuring 2x5x10 inches...

Hi John, Thanks for the information, I will have a look to the files you shared us and let you knwo asap. BTW, Think about processing a "check for update ", I mean the last version of APEX is 9.1.3 which include several fixes too... Simply launch APEX then go to Help / Check for updates... Thanks William...

John, Can you confirm that the bug is fixed using APEX version 9.1.3 ? Thanks William

William Gallego replied 3 months, 1 week ago
Hello Mengda, Actually this is not a bug, software and Direct X rendering modes are two distincts modes, therefore the resulting display of a 3D capture is a little bit different. Colors are correct, only the lighting is different. Note that you can modify the lighting, see screenshot in attachement, guess The "CAD optmized lights" settings would give you a better result. BTW, did ...

How can I set Line Width
Published (2009-12-09 01:46:00)
I do not think it is possible in U3D - there seems to be no field setting line width in the U3D spec. As to the "pdf3d engine" - likely no. I was complaining on this forum about similar problem with point size (it can not be controlled and was changed from 1 pixel to 3x3 pixel in a new version of Reader) and got the following reply from a man of Adobe ( http://forums.adobe.com/message/1922684#1922684):   We try to adhere as...

Yes, Michail, we do want to create the pdfs from 3D Reviewer as we are using it to add PMI to our 3d models.   The problem is with 3D Reviewer at the point when it exports the pdfs.   Thanks for investigating the pdfs. It's interesting to see those files. Where is the decompiler available from?   cheers, Ian

I had problems until it updated to 9.2, then all went OK. I've created 3D parts, assemblies and assemblies containing assemblies from IV 2010 files (see attached). Attachments: 479186-10.pdf (1.6 MB)

I have a 3D model that I want to add text to.  I would like to know if it is possible to attach text to an object so that when a the object is selected the text appears and then when the object is deselected the text disappears until the object is clicked again. Is this possible? If so how is it done?

Disable model tree
Published (2009-12-09 06:36:00)
Thanks Alexander,   I followed your advise, however the suppressing the tree does not make it impossible for other people to see the model tree. This method only suppresses the model tree when opening the file, but if people want to see the model tree, they still can.   I am searching for a way to hide the model tree for always and anyone.

Disable model tree
Published (2009-12-09 07:24:00)
I see. This is not possible, indeed. However, although you cannot disable the tree completely, you could hide sensitive information by merging the nodes composing the 3D object into a single node. This was possible with models in the u3d file format using DeepExploration software and selecting a particular option when exporting the model to u3d. Maybe one can do that in Acrobat as well. Just an idea.   Alexander

Folks, I apologize for such a simple question but everytime I download a simple PDF, I cannot see any of the images that are in the pdf.  Instead, I only see gray boxes. How can I fix this?  Any thoughts?  Thank you in advance.
