I've also got JaS 10.5.4 and I've given up on my on board sound (ALC860 on an Intel 915 mobo) and fitted a Cmi8738 based PCI card, but I can't see exactly how to install this kext. The install.sh file seems to be something to do with it, ...

Hi, I installed Krazubu's kext on 10.5.6. It seems to load (kextstat shows it, kextunload does not work) but I don't get sound and it's also not listed in the system information screen. I got a Terratec Aureon 5.1 PCI. Could it be a problem with 10.5.6? How could I debug further? I do net get any error messages on bootup / in dmesg. lspci -nn 18:07.0 Multimedia audio controller [...

QUOTE(Krazubu @ Jun 2 2008, 05:32 PM) I just recompiled this old driver from Dogbert for 10.5.3, no idea if it still works. It's for 8738/8768 cards, maybe some other models work too. Thanks Krazubu for the kext. I have been trying to get my onboard adi 198x to work after getting my cmedia8738 pci card working (with so far what seems to be output only). Somehow I managed...

QUOTE (SnoopKatt @ Nov 3 2009, 07:37 AM) Hm, you said it worked under 421 build? Was that an older version of Snow Leopard? I'm getting what I posted earlier, so maybe that kext just wasn't compiled correctly? Yes, right. That was an early build before the retail. And it works well. I didn't compiled the kext. I just installed it via kextinstaller. tnx in advance.

well thanks ... if someone worked with DSDT, where would you please attach it here? because honestly I need .. and I've done everything with this kext and for some reason does not recognize it .. I think it's because I'm using the ALC662 in hdef the DSDT, but if I delete the DSDT errors with the cmos, then I need a DSDT with Cmedia .. if someone feels sorry:( thanks

Thanks for the info SnoopKatt. It's good to hear that the driver works well in Snow. I looked up the XPlosion and it uses a modified 8768 chip called the 8770. This driver supports the 8738 and 8768 but according to Dogbert the 8788 is a new design and is unsupported, so it seems we won't be able to use this driver after all.

I updated to 10.6.2 and it seems to work okay.. I noticed every once in a while the sound seems to just drop out and requiring a reboot to get it back. I am going to try to figure out a way to reload the kext while in the os maybe through a shortcut, unless there is some other way to fix this.
