Man, the eighties makes me shudder! Apart from The Specials and the other 2 tone bands, some reggae, soul to soul, and the rise of conscious hip hop right at the cusp of the 90s, I don't even like to think about it. I think the Sixties was the best decade for music and it's still the yardstick. but even the 60s had a certain amount of drivel (so I'm told , I'm not that old, lol )...

The early eighties were good for music IMHO, I don't know about the rest of the decade. __________________ What if there are no mistakes?

I was a teenager in the 80s. Far from being ridiculed, the 80s is being sold right back to us in bucketloads right now. Most commercially succesful popular music from Lady Gaga to La Roux are nostalgically glamourising the decade that spawned Thatcherism, corporate greed, the miner's strike and the Falklands War. Walk around town for half an hour and you will most likely spot an emo kid with 'new romantic' eyeliner, skin tight...
