Saw a report yesterday about the big 3 sales for October...
Ford is up 3%
GM is up 4%
Chrysler is down 30%
There was no speculation on why, but I believe it to be that their factories were shut down for a fair amount of time.
The dealer here was without anything new for about 2 months.
Thoughts?
Im my opinion Ford screwed the pooch here. There is an inline six from International thats not much bigger than our beloved Cummins that could have been used. That V8 motor looks like a nightmare, gone are the shade tree days for sure.

I agree but the IH engine is...
Thanks for all the info. I've been looking to seeing all the details on the new 6.7 Scorpion.
I very much like the in-valley turbo design. IMO, the only saving grace for a V/8 diesel.
Having said that, it is still so complicated, it scares me. This only makes me appreciate our in line sixes all the more.

That struck me as odd also... Maybe Ford is trying to rely on the reputation of the older 7.3L Powerstroke name... That might backfire on them. The 7.3 was a good engine, but since ...
Interesting.... Some of the feedback was interesting also. But K.I.S.S. still seems to be the reigning philosphy for me. I also like being able to work on my own stuff and not have to call NASA for parts or explanations. Function, reliability, ease of access, plentiful parts, simplicity = CUMMINS.

Aluminum heads, wimpy connecting rods, urea, and up to five injections per cycle, i don't think i'd touch it with a ten foot pole.
And to top it all off they used the power stroke name, i agree with grizzly and AMink, that is a big mistake.
I'll keep my 5.9l cummins with a manual transmission (you can't even get a manual with this new p.o.s. powerjoke!).
Keep It ...

What do you like about it?
While I applaud the placement of the exhaust valves on the inboard side in order to reduce manifold bends, I just don't like it from a maintenance perspective.
Personally, I think ...
I-6 for me all the way, even if Cummins made a V-8 Diesel I would still prefer an I-6.

BP Makes "Giant" Oil Find in Gulf of Mexico
by Tom Bergin
Wednesday, September 2, 2009provided byReuters
LONDON (Reuters) - Oil major BP Plc said it has made an oil discovery in the Gulf of Mexico, which analysts believe could contain over 1 billion barrels of recoverable reserves, reaffirming the Gulf's ...
I thought I read where it had to be electronically controlled. I'm sure they'll extend it to the 12v guys next. I hope for this guy's sake that you guys are wrong, but upon rereading the notice,it looks like 98 12 valves are included. Sucks all around. The subjective snap test is the scariest.
Call it whatever you want, but Ford better hope that the third time is the charm, or Dodge is going to own the 4500-5500 market, espescially now that GM has abandoned that segment. I think they'll make inroads regardless of how the new Scorpion turns out.
Need to get one of them requisitioned to Texas..... Let it spend some time idling on location for hours at a time, then get driven 70 mph down dirt/rock lease roads...etc..

Smart move...keeping the name of the engine the same as the legendary 6.0 and 6.4. Great move! At least "Scorpion" would have indicated that is is something totally new (if it really is). I like being able to "see the ground" too. It is much easier to work on an inline engine than a V engine. I still do not know why the Ford folks went with a V8 instead of a inline 6.
Tomscreek...you got it 100%. Eventually the new pickup will be unrecognizable...undrivable...unmaintainable...una ffordable. Wages and jobs keep going down...and the prices on these things are through the atmosphere. Mid 50's for basically any new Ford (or any) diesel thats not a cab/chassis white 2WD. Soon...they will cost as much as new Class7/8 trucks.

More worries and discussion about Furd Sick.Ohhs on the HitchHiker Owner's Forum. 6.0L service availability Multiple oil leaks, dealers who refuse to service or try to avoid servicing them, and general unease among the poor owners who still haven't figured it out. Furd Sick.Ohhs and their owners always provide a laugh.
LOL Press Secretary Gibbs accidentally compares... LOL Press Secretary Gibbs accidentally compares "Chrysler sales" to "VCR sales." Bad news for Chrysler if that's the case...
