Thread: Christian moms, do you practice "family worship"?

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by Celeste
Christian moms, do you practice "family worship"? If so, how old are your kiddos when you start keeping them with you in church? Babies? Toddlers? How do you teach them to sit still? Ava is almost 3 . Our church has a really good Sunday School program. The kids stay in the same room for both services (adult church & SS). There are a...

Re: Christian moms, do you practice "family worship"? I don't think I stayed with my mom in services until I was 9 or 10 and able to sit still and easily read from the bible and we will probably do the same with our kids. It was still only an occasional occurrence until I was in jr. high. ...

Re: Christian moms, do you practice "family worship"? The kids stay with us through worship, but after tithe/offering and prayer, DS goes to the nursery for the sermon (he's 12 months- I can't ask him to sit still), and DD (almost 3) has the option of staying with us or going to the toddler room. We always pack books (with quiet pages) and...

Re: Christian moms, do you practice "family worship"? I thought about bringing coloring books/etc. to keep DD busy. But then, what is the point of family worship? Do you use it just to teach your kids to sit still? To me, I think I may wait until DD will not just sit still, but also listen to the sermon. I don't know. I'm conflicted about ...

Re: Christian moms, do you practice "family worship"? Ours stay in the nursery til they are 4. It has a paid nursery attendant that is the same every week, and a volunteer that rotates. DD has much more fun in there, and would not get anything out of church. They have chapel at her preschool, so she attends then. The church I went to...

Re: Christian moms, do you practice "family worship"? Our church has nursery till age 3. At age two they may attend Sunday School (before regular service) and at age 3 may attend Junior Church with the 3-5 YO's. The 6 yo and up junior church goes till at least 4th grade. My dd (11) still attends occasssionally if she is feeling too ...

Re: Christian moms, do you practice "family worship"? Our children stay with us until they are about 5 or 6 mo and then go to the nursery until they are about 5yrs old. We have all the children in the Sanctuary for the first 15min or so and then anyone 5 and under go to the nursery. My boys have always stayed when they were tiny though ...

Re: Christian moms, do you practice "family worship"? We have Sunday School, Jr High and High School group during the same time as main church. We have 3 services, so I suppose we could do family worship, but I guess I mainly pray with my kdis at home.. Great food for thought! __________________...

Re: Christian moms, do you practice "family worship"? One of the reasons I love our church so much is they offer several options for young families 1. Nursery 0-3 available for whole service 2. Family room-our old chapel with a large screen feed from the main service that is kid friendly (blocks/Legos set up)-available whole service 3. ...

Re: Christian moms, do you practice "family worship"? My older two, 10 and 6 have Faith Formation from 9am-10am They have grades or seperate classrooms for ages. We come back to get them around 10am where we then decide depending on the mood of our 2 year old if he will go to Mass or the nursery. USUALLY they ALL sit with us through Mass. But sometimes the boys are cranky and we let them go to the nursery. My dd who is 10...

I'm surprised at the number of churches that don't include the children in your service. Is that a very typical Protestant/non-denominational thing? How do the older kids do when they start going to service? I serve as an EMoHC one month a quarter and I can actually leave my 4,6 and 8 year olds in the pew by themselves (when DH is working and has to attend separately from us) while I serve and they do just fine, even when the oldest...
