ad mentioned, Keep the Vortec heads and block but to make the install easier use a TBI intake designed for Vortec Heads and use your TBI unit and wiring harness and then get a chip for the computer from a custom tuner. Edelbrock makes a TBI intake for the L31 Vortec heads. A ZZ4 cam works great in a vortec motor although I would suggest using the LT1 valve springs. I did this on my ...

I was not able to find a tbi intake for the vortec heads anywhere on the net, that is why I suggested making the adapter.

It shouldn't be more than $2000 for a shop to take it out and rebuild it.

hmm. My dilemma is this: I can pay that amount to fix it up, and then it's pretty much mine. Or else I need to go out and search for another truck that hopefully has a good tranny, etc. This truck of ours has only 141,000 miles on it....so i am tempted to just pay for the tranny replacement. Thoughts?

I bought a Jasper Transmission a few years ago for 1500.00. They offer a 3 year warranty on them as well. Most shops that I know of only offer up to a year warranty on a rebuilt. You can go to their site to find dealers in your area.

You can get a rebuilt for about $500-$700. It would cost another $500 to $700 for installation. If you know any friends capable I'd look into doing it yourself with their help and save a fortune.

I have a 97 Silverado that has the captain chairs with full center console in front. I have been looking for the cup holder insert that goes in the front of the console. I currently have the cd insert and I have found where to get those online but cant seem to find out where to get the cup holder insert. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know if these will work for you but I used them in mine and they worked out awesome. I bought them from Boaters World. http://www.boatersworld.com/drink-h.....3Bcigalley

since you need an alignment any way try to adjust the camber washers untill you get the tire out far enough to get the tire off the control arm and get it to the shop

Would the speed sensor effect the way the truck runs, shifts, and guzzles gas?

I know 95 had the 4L60E and I think 94 was the changeover year depending on production date. I know the 93 had the 700R4.

Yea I kinda figured I would have to drop the diff but was looking at it and im preaty sure I can drop it without takeing the front end apart. I think it will slide right between the 2 drop cross members for my lift. I just put my lift on this summer so all those bolts and stuff have recently been broken loose so its not goona be all bad just no truck for a little while lol. I might just try and find a diff with 3:73 gears from the junkyard...

Thanks guys for all the input. I did figure it out. Turned out i had put the ball joint under the control arm. Its suppose to be over it. Dumb mistake on my part but its working now. Now I gotta do the other side.
