what do you mean by surges back and forth with the afterburner muffler and no cat you will have a more noticable lope in the sound at idle

i had a surging problem and it ended up being the bearing in the A/C compressor

what i meant from surges was that when i get up to speed limit and back of the gas to cruise it starts it surging the rpm raises and drops for a crappy ride. so i have to constantly play with the gas peddle. the ac thing might be the prob cause it leaks oil out the compressor. i spent $99.95 at a free ac check to have it filled with dye. when i went back they told me what was up $600...

you can throw out the whole ac compressor and put in a pully so there is just that in its place. you just wont have AC anymore.

OK if you have the A/C on when your driveing and your engine surgges and then backs off then surges agian every 10 to 30 sec means your low on freon and the A/C compressor is cycling on and off to tell you your low

TPS or IAC sensors

northernchevyman replied 1 month, 3 weeks ago
could be the sensors to. wat i did was unplug it and the clutch doesnt engage so it more or less turns into a free spinning pulley and stopped the surging. the plug is just on top of the compressor. i chose to do this because i didnt want to pay the cost of revamping my system to R-134 from R-12

it deffinatly wont be the O2 sensor cause even if the are unplugged or filled with junk they will go into closed loop with a preset fuel air mixture and you r engine will run a little junky but nothin serious like the surgin your talkin about. O2 sensor could throw a code though if not workin
