I have a 92 Z71 with a 4 inch lift, 4:10 gears. The motor is mostly stock and I would eventually love to drop in a 383. Right now I am looking to completely replace my exhaust from the motor back. I am looking at long tube headers, maybe Headman or Thorleys, true duals witha dual inlet outlet flowmaster out back. Since I wont have emmisions problems I am going to dump the Cats. What ...

for your headers you may have troubles adapting them from pre-vortech heads on the stock 1992 to the ones you were wanting to put on your 383. that breather tube is not part of the exhaust gas recirculation system. its to help heat the air and fuel in colder temps is wat ive been told. i had the super 40 on my truck and it was deep so it should be pretty deep off true duals and headers...

Thanks for the tips, I got my Cowl hood from a guy that had it before me and got tired of it. I bought it off of him without having to have it painted and for about half the price of a new one. About the air warming tube, will it be ok just to take it off?

northernchevyman replied 3 months, 1 week ago
ya the air warming tube is to prevent freeze up. it is most probable freeze up occurs in the injector plates around -1 to -4 degrees Celsius. any colder and it doesn't occur and warmer your fine. it isnt needed because the headers will give off more heat in your engine bay also. i have taken mine off and i live in northern canada and i've never experienced the freeze up so feel free to...

you will not have any prolems with headers going from early centerbolt heads to vortec heads, exhuast ports match up exactly, the intake pattern is different on the vortec heads. you would need a different intake. unless you like not being able to hear youself think, you might want to go with super 40s or 44s, maybe even Magnaflows. original 40s resonate badly. You can remove the heat ...

i was wondering if my cats where starting to go bad would this cause the oil pressure to jump up a bit to try to get the exhaust out. i have noticed lately that when i first take off in the a.m. the oil pressure gets up between the 60 range and a little over as the trans switches gear.and i cant help to wonder if the cat is putting to much back pressure be for the cat. the other night ...

Xcutioner replied 3 months, 1 week ago
not sure about the heat of the cats but the oil pressure when you start the truck cold will be higher because of the thickness of the oil as you drive the oil will thin from the heat and pressure will drop off another thing with oil pressure is if the oil is getting towards the end of the change cycle you run then the oil will be thinner and have even less pressure when its warm...

A V6 sounds really bad with glasspacks. A nice freeflow 2 chambered muffler would make it sound good. As far as power don`t expect much out of the 2.8L. If you wnat to get more out of it consider getting a good cam. Then the freeflow exhaust will really make a difference.

If you dump it, it will echo off the ground under the truck making it louder. As far as drone, there is hardly none. The exit tips don`t change the sound, so do what you personally like.

As far as sound is concerned flowmaster will give you that sound but almost no performance gain. you should check out a company called flo pro. they dont make a kit for the gasoline engine but from the guys on this site and sounds clips it is a really good choice. Banks specializes in diesel performance so i dont know how good their gasoline products are.

I have dual flow masters on mine, has nice deep tone. I couldn`t tell you about performance, the exhaust was done when I got the truck. I`d say that if you are planning true duals, use an X pipe, it will give you even better sound. Good Luck

yeah i was going to get tips but i wasn`t crazy about what the muffler shop had. so i wasn`t paying an extra 100 dollars for something i didn`t really like.

All to often people confuse backpressure with exhaust scavanging. Back pressure restricts the amount of air that can flow through an engine. Valves get burnt on carburated engines when people increase the amount of air flowing through the engine without correcting the fuel mixture. Modern fuel injected engines have O2 sensors and MAP sensors to detect and control the air/fuel mixture. The puter makes adjustments based on the info provided...

Hey I thought about getting a Magnaflow high flow cat and I might go ahead and take off the muffler thats on there now and get a Magnaflow muffler but what set-up do you guys recommend for my 95 Sierra 5.7 350 TBI? Is there a certain chamber recommended or inlet/outlet?
