It doesnt. So is this just how it is, 3 years later and the game is a giant buggy mess that no one has a solution for? I mean being able to walk without your character spazzing out is the MOST basic of features, Im not looking for a cure to something obscure here... and I think 2 xpacs later its time for this to work.
Hey Dbl E, See this comment about card version and DX. I know this seems odd and trial and error but it is hard not knowing what your complete system specs are. There are so many varibles on other peoples computers. Click Here It might not be a bad idea to completely wipe NWN2 and expansions. Start from scratch re-install NWN2 DON'T update it. start a game tell the first dialogue and then ...

Hey SF, I agree with that link you supplied, however if after all that if the game(s) aren't tried between each install how will one know if it is due to another issue or because of one of the installs? Ergo my recommendation of trying the game in between installs. Cheers! Ambrose P.S. It's good though that at least some people are getting involved with this issue to help someone out....
Thanks for the help. As for reinstalling the game, Ive done that more times then play it (and incidentally this is the only software I've ever had to reinstall for no apparent reason). Ive had this issue on vista 64, 32, and still on XP. Ive had the most up to date nvidia driver as well as the 3 next newest ones as I had to step back to fix the graphics screwing up beyond 1400 horizontal ...
HiYa, Sorry to read about your bugs, I"m an XP user and I must say I have never had any game breaking issues sense I owned my computer. Have you checked to see if there are any apps running and/or scanning in the back ground that you are not aware of? What about unknown services, or services running that may be causing an issue. Has your security software quarintined any NWN files that it ...
I am using xp now as much as possible, its on a dual boot computer of which I never use vista. The only DX install I did was the one that came with NWN2 OC so it should be correct for the game but I will see to it. On my laptop vista 64 is the only option, I just find it noteworthy that two completely different systems have the same issue. As if the override folder might be doing it since I ...
Hey E.E., Another thing I thought afterwards was your comment on re-installing a few times over, Were they clen un-installs, as I read an answer on a post here that sometimes somethings can get left behind in the registry so you have to go in an delete manually, and there is also a hidden folder which contains some files that should be deleted. I'm sorry I don't have a link to give you for this...
Having a computer that was just overall reformatted and installed gives you the benefit of clean uninstall of any software that was on it. This was the case for both computers.
Hey All, I have never had this problem myself, and this may be waaayy out in left field but has anyone thought of unplugging their keyboard and rebooting their computer, then plugging it back in so the computer recognizes new hardware? Also if your keyboard has new updates then get those as well, I own a Razar Lycosa gamer keyboard and they update once in a while, same holds true for my gaming mouse as well. Just a thought..... Hope you all...
ok ive done everything in all thread links and still dealing with this crap. It seems to come up around Soz install or patch time. Please tell me the quick run down of other things to do this is so ridiculous. I got my driver back to APRILs nvidia release just so i can see the screen in high res but the jerking all over when i stop running persists.
@ Ambrose, Yup, people have tried different things and it isn't happening because of local hardware or software issues, but in the game, usually as a result of using WASD and/or the left mouse button to walk/run; when the character stops, there is a sudden turn to, usually, face north, as if the character was just spawned. I suspect that, related to this issue, would also be the issue of a character warping back to a place they were at...
Quote: Posted 11/10/09 23:27 (GMT) by Selene Moonsong Great post UltimaThule Thanks. I wish we could find some practical solution to the OPs problem but it does not seem that easy... so contacting the Obsidian team is a very good idea.
I can add to this, another very similar problem, which I think has always been around from the beginning. Its not a constant issue but it happens on rare occasions. Again when using the WASD keys to drive my character, I can arrive at a destination but not actually seem to be there at the same time. Its hard to explain but things dont seem to react to my character being there, like NPCs being ignorant of my existence and then running...

Same problem here, the turning jerks the camera around like crazy, makes the game nigh unplayable. Windows 7, nvidia 285GTX with the latest drivers, 4gb ram, dual core intel 8500. I suspect a work around would be to play in strategy mode, where the camera is not locked to the character's facing. Not a particularly fun workaround, but it's there if someone's desperate to play.
Wow. I made a post about this when the game first came out, and I had the same issue with NWN1 once in a while, but at the time no one had heard of it. The only difference is I never got this problem using WASD for movement, but with the mouse. As soon as the character would reach the destination I clicked on, he would often rotate in some direction and sometimes even take a step in that direction, too. I haven't played NWN or NWN2 in so...
