Thread: Changing LCI Xenon Bulbs

Started 3 months, 2 weeks ago by magic77
Well got my 6000K bulbs today and seems the bulb change is a lot harder than E46 Just had a quick look does anyone know if its headlight out job or can it be done with them in place. Also any ideas if its bumper off to remove headlights. thanks

Not sure but it would be a fairly safe bet that the bumper would have to be dropped off from its mounts to remove the headlamp.

Is it not a front wheel off and through the arch liner job?

Dr Dave replied 3 months, 2 weeks ago
I do have a means of checking the exact BMW procedure for this job but I can't go upstairs and turn the PC on as wifey is asleep in the same room! I'll try tommorrow if I get time.

yeah bumper off would be better, also voiding the headlamp warranty in the process of changing bulbs (1 time use stickers now) have fun,do a step by step if you can

i checked with my local sutner about the warranty there is only a sticker on the DRL bulb so it means that if the bulb blows in first 3 years you can get new one. As I' chaning to LEd son not a problem , cant see any stickers on xenon cover

well to answer my own question I changed the bulbs today and weird as it sounds you can do it without opening the bonnet. - it seems the quickest and safest way is front wheels off , take the wheel arch liner off and this gives you access to the headlight cluster. I've taken some pictures and will do a DIY guide shortly

Hi mate, I also have a 3 series LCI..... dont suppose you looked at upgrading the angel eye bulbs did you? Im looking to do mine, but can figure out how to get the old ones out, also what type of bulbs replace them? There is no mention of them at all in the manual! Andy

Funny you should say that I have upgraded mine, originally went for set of GP thunders but in end settled for a set of LED upgrades from Teddy at SSDD motorsport. I've done a DIY and posted as new thread. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...00#post6213600
