Thread: Cervical Polyp

I had an ultrasound on Saturday and the sonographer found a small 5mm polyp in my cervical canal. The symptom i have is a little mucky brown discharge between periods, and a bit of cramping between periods too. She thinks the Doctor will advise removal of this polyp as they do grow larger, and maybe a D & C. The problem i have is the anaesetic. I already had one large op on my ear ...

When you had your previous anesthesia, was it the full anesthesia where you were intubated? Or was it twilight anesthesia?

IT was a full one. I saw my Gyno todayand she says as its so small she wants to leave it one more cycle and then scan me again. If it has got bigger i will have the op, if as she says that sometimes they come away with the endometrium lining if they are tiny enough she will leave alone and not do anything, s there will be no need. So now im just waiting and seeing what happens re the brown ...

I don't know many people who bounce back that fast after having been put completely out. It is a major trauma to your body to be fully anesthetised. However, that being said, if you have this surgery to remove the polyp and do a d&c, they will most likely only give you twilight anesthesia. You're still awake sort of, you breathe on your own instead of a tube down your throat and the waking ...

I asked her today, and they dont seem to do it in the uk under a twilight anaesthetic, so if i have it done it will be a general. She says it takes about 10 mins for the procedure so i wot be having like loads of anaesthetic, but i definetely will be out, which messes with my blood pressure which goes lower than it normally is, which is low!! and i feel horrible for hours afterwards , so the Docs...
