Right now, my main order of business is making room for a passenger seat as there is a lead acid battery in a marine case on the passenger floor. I need to have a Race seat for the instructor at a driving school unless I do not want instruction in my own vehicle. To that end I have purchased a Braille 9 pound battery..needs no case or venting, can be mounted siedeways, and its tiny. I am moving ...
36 years ago I removed the wiring harness from my Sprite to do a few body repairs. This year I plan to finish my "summer" project. I don't recall the placement/routing of the harness from the rear of the car to the front. I believe it passes from the rear into the space above the wheel well and next to the outside panel. From there it goes down toward the floor but does it then exit the inner...
It exits just above the inner sill and runs along the inner sill, not along the floor. It is hidden by the interior panel, do watch when screwing in that panel, do not screw through the harness like I did It runs up to the dash on the inner fender again behind the interior panel, there is a clip to hold it.
I still plan on being there. I might sleep later and catch the bunch at
Ingles at 10:30. Gundy, man what can I say. I just got back sunday from my
wife's grandma's funeral. All the best to you and your wife. Hope to see
and ride with you again some time. I got the last of the roofing shingles
hauled off today and tomorrow I hope I can mow my grass and saturday just
have some fun and ride the MG. ...
OK, I finally had some time to spend on the car. I took the Weber apart and verified everything is to spec on the carb, per the Weber set-up guide. Everything is standard on the carb. This leads me to believe it's a fuel issue. What should I expect, as far as output goes, from my electric fuel pump? If I held a gallon gas can to the line, how long should it take to fill? Any other ideas on ...
Had the same thing happen to my midget. PO had a jury rigged fitting to the pressure guage. Don't know how far I went without oil but noticed a change in the sound of the engine about 3 blocks before I shut it down. Crank case completely empty and what a mess. Refill showed slightly lower oil pressure but engine seemed OK. Drove it another 6 months before another scew up of PO forced a tear down....
I had a similar experience Saturday. There were 10 cars for a church
function. Two Porsches, a new GTO, 60's Impala convertible, '31 Model A
coupe, Cobra 427 kit car, 55 Bell Air, 2008 Mustang GT convertible, late
model Vette, and Midgie. Kids liked Midgie, wives liked Midgie, guys except
for the ones who brought cars (most of which are friends of mine) made a
quick look and on to the Cobra.
The good news is that the BE finally seems to be running well (well, as good as possible considering all the miles :-) It just took some patient tweaking. I did tighten up the intake manifold and then managed to smooth out the idle by turning out the mixture a little more on the rear carb. It now accelerates smoothly and idles at a reasonable speed. It's certainly not perfect, and I'm not ...
Well, he's got this one freed up now. FWIW, the last time I had to get a crank bolt pulley off, impact wrench wouldn't do it (not the best electric one, I'm sure a decent air one would have no problem). I jammed a big flat screw driver in the flywheel teeth and put a 5' length of pipe on the handle of a hefty socket wrench, it finally gave up and came off. It's all about torque baby, leverage.
I asked Bill one day too late. Here's what I am looking for. I am trying to figure out a 5 speed swap - though I haven't actually decided if I even want to go that route. At any rate, I can measure most everything with the transmission in situ, but, if someone had a 1500 bellhousing and felt like tracing the shape and holes of both ends onto a piece of newsprint or some such paper and mailing it to me I would be grateful. I...
That weatherstripping looks just like one of the choices from JC Whitney. The round one with the little flap out one side. Does the little pointy flap point out towards the back of the car or in towards the cabin? This top should work on the MK1 Midget and the MK2 Sprite without any trouble. YMMV of course and take measurements before purchase! Thanks for the pics Hairyone, they are large but they really showed me what I needed to know! To me...
Thanks Jack. So it should be reassembled like this (don't mind the one seal on the far side that isn't put on right); The metal washers go in between the "cupped" seal and the piston, and the seal itself fits over the spring end with the dished out part of the seal facing the spring. Thanks humoring the questions and pictures, but I've found this helps me personally to get it right and I've had other folks...
ummm.... this may sound a bit off-th-wall, but: I drive my 50+ year old compressor with an old Sears in-ground water well pump motor. Check around with the folks who replace those things and mebbe find one semi-used they'd sell for cheap? Pulleys can be had for pocket change at places like Grainger, etc. If your intent is to economize, that's what my recommendation would be... MacGyver th' stuff ya have.

Stumbled across MGB, MG Midget, Healey Sprite... Stumbled across MGB, MG Midget, Healey Sprite (non-frogeyed) and Sunbeam Alpine all in one day. Two seater British roadsters make me happy.
