Hello   I thought I could install my new Officejet 6500 as a network printer during the weekend, but apparently HP had a different opinion... I use a netbook for my job as I travel a lot. Unfortunately, the max screen resolution available for these widescreen computers is "limited" to 1024x576, which is less than the minimum required by the installation software (800x600) so I just ...

Unfortunately, my LG netbook does not support any other screen resolution than 1024x576 therefore the info on the linked document does not apply to me. Sorry for not mentioning that earlier, but I had already checked that as the installation program can direct you to change the display res. Is there anything else I can do?   ...

Yes. When you get to the System Requirements Check window, click on the Cancel button while holding the Ctrl+Shift keys. This will bypass the sys. req. check and continue the installation. You may need to do this several times for the installation to proceed.

Thanks a million DexterM,   that did it! I managed to install the software. Now, when the printer "re-appears" on the network, I should be able to use it!!! Shouldn't HP include a tip for the Ctrl+Shift by-pass somewhere for cases like this? r is it already documented somewhere and I missed it, in which case I do apologise...)   Thanks again, You did t!!

The document I provided should provide sufficient info on how to correct the problem. On similar cases where I came across, the Ctrl+Shift bypass was not even necessary. I only recommend it as a last resort. I would rather install the basic drivers on netbooks, as their hardware is already limited, and it's better not to burden the PC with the full software. Plus, the Solution Center ...
