Thread: Can you get a Ka band false alert?

Started 4 months ago by Quailane
I have X and K band disabled and I get faint Ka readings every once in a while but every time it does that I can never find the source. If only police radar uses Ka band, is there any way to receive false signals or are these police radars being operated far away?

I can't think of a time I have gotten a false Ka band reading. I don't know what else produces Ka band other than police radars (I believe it is a pretty specific/uncommon frequency, unlike K and X bands). You are probably just picking up a distant radar somewhere. On an open highway I have been warned of a radar 2+ miles away and the signal gets progressively stronger

Piss poor detectors will leak signal. Are other cars around when you get the faint readings? Could be leaky detectors.

In Tucson, I can get false laser alerts from the military base. Also, Cobras and shit detectors will spew Ka all over the place. Probably just picking up a Crapra

Or possibly military equipment or aircraft?
