recommend some 'holiday' movies? I'm pretty well set for Christmas, but need some ideas for the other holidays. Thanks for your suggestions, Sweet_Melissa. *~* *~*

When Harry Met Sally has some New Years stuff Odd Christmas movies Die Hard and The Ref you have Ten Commandments for Easter right? Home for the Holidays - about American Thanksgiving Halloween? sorry, couldn't resist It's not the load that breaks you down, it's the way you carry it --- Lena Horne

It wouldn't be Christmas if hubby didn't watch Scrooge with George C. Scott. Every year, without fail, at least twice.

I already gave you these via PM, but I'll post them just in case anyone else needs recommendations: The Shop Around the Corner (1940) . Wonderful romantic comedy with Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullavan. It's a Wonderful Life (1946) . If you haven't seen this, it's long past time. A Christmas Story (1983) . Another obvious choice that nearly everyone has seen. The Rocking Horse Winner (...

A Christmas Story A Christmas Carol.....the 1952 version. A Walton's Thanksgiving...*i'm not sure if that's the proper name* Non themed family movies but are always shown around holidays.. The Sound of Music My Fair Lady Fiddler on the Roof Oliver if you can find a copy of "A Claymation Christmas" that is a wonderfully funny stop action film Oooooooo and the Shrek ...

Thanks Deo....and don't forget laker's recommendation....Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. I'm not sure if some of the ones I'm thinking of would be considered holiday movies.... Easter Parade isn't all about Easter, etc. *~* *~*

True, i think they trot them out during the holidays, which is all right by me. Yeah...the Santa conquers the martians is a real holiday classic. Hell's broken loose.

Independence Day! I'll show you who's rock x92;nx92; roll!

Christmas isn't the same without watching "A Christmas Story" with Peter Billingsley. "You'll shoot your eye out!" I second "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians"! It's so cheesy and so much fun! "Scrooge" with Alistair Sims "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (The 1966 television version ) "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" with Burl Ives "Trading Places" "A Charlie Brown Christmas...

See? Pulp Fiction is that awesome. It makes the Rock doing a Christmas movie plausible through quotage. Things fall apart. It's scientific.

I looked it up and you're right: Mickey Rooney did appear in the fifth Silent Night, Deadly Night film. Why the hell did he do that? Here's what the trivia section says: Mickey Rooney wrote a letter of protest against the first Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) stating that the "scum" who made it should be "run out of town" for having sullied the sacredness of Christmas. And yet he co-starred in...

I would recommend "Blast of Silence" for the holiday challenge. It starts out on Christmas Eve and continues through the holidays, but it's definitely not a Christmas movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054687/ *~* *~*

We were just talking about it as the holiday only recently passed, but anybody who still wants to V for Vendetta after Guy Fawkes Day can do so for points in the Holiday Challenge.

"A Christmas Story" is one of the best holiday movies ever made. A couple of months ago, my daughter and I found the leg lamp at a joke shop. It looks just like the one in the movie and we're giving it to a family member this year. "To do is to be" - Socrates "To be is to do" - Descartes "Do be do be do" - Sinatra
