Thread: Can I upgrade iTune downloads into Apple lossless

Hi all, Apologies in advance if this seems a really dumb question but here goes. I have altered my import preferences to import from CDs using Apple Lossless. If I download a tune from iTunes and then view the song in my library , right click I can see an option to Create Apple Lossless version – does this actually alter the song into a better quality version? Thanks lee...

The iTunes Store only sells in AAC/256, and as the Giant notes, there is no conversion you can do that will improve the audio quality. If you are looking for lossless downloads, there are several online music download stores that sell them. Hdtracks.com, livedownloads.com and beatport.com are a few. The other way to get lossless audio quality is to rip from CD....
