Hi,
You can use the Remote app to control the playback on your Apple TV from your iPod touch. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1947 provides more details about the Remote app.

Is this a possibility? I have all my music on Apple TV's hard drive, which is way more than I can fit on the iPod Touch. Sure would be nice to tap into the ATV with iPod Touch and listen to anything I have.
Macbook Pro 13" 2.26ghz...

Remote only lets you playback media on the system that contains it, i.e. the Touch becomes a remote control and you can't playback on the Touch itself.
If you want to access your music and playback on the Touch, look into the "Simplify Media" app. Wherever you have wi-fi you can access your home library, so you don't even need to be at home. Not sure if it can access ATV though, ...
