I recall reading speculation on how many Allied Notes are required for various ranks, taking time spent into account (longer time means requires AN). I can't seem to find that information now, also if any new calculations have been done. I've lost several ranks due to poor RL scheduling and would greatly appreciate a point in the right direction on the most efficient way to get that Iron Ram ...
Never really bought the AN theory since it means a few days of Ops can outshine a few hours of actual battle. Either way, best to not look at the system as how little you can do to get by and just do it knowing what you can do to get the most out of it (category caps, etc). Getting yourself 10k EXP a week will likely be enough for every rank up to max, and the lower ones can probably skate by ...
Thank you Seriha, 10k per rank/week is close to what i thought. By the way, what do you mean by category caps? maybe it's late in the night for me... Also, what campaign OPs do you do? I mostly run around with Aegis Scream III on, hovering around Sandy's BST controlled areas. FYI, I usually go PLD/NIN with dd gear... Joyeuse and Princely Sword (enmity -6). Would it be better if I turtle ...
Three primary tips: - Don't even bother with going to a zone if it's beastmen controlled - Use your Op Credits. If you're really hardcore about doing CBs, you might elect to use them on Aegis Scream ops and get them done along with your CBs so that you don't need to expend any additional effort performing other tasks on the side for AN, but it can take quite a lot of CBing to use up a full ...
PLD/RDM or PLD/DNC with Joyeuse would be your better bet. The form for Phalanx to stretch out your MP for cures, the latter for Aspir Samba to keep your MP up or converting TP to a status cure or something. Category caps are basically what the name implies, though I can understand not knowing the categories right off the bat. Damage Done, Damage Taken, HP Cured, Crits inflicted, WS performed, ...
The Fynlar of Doom wrote: - Don't even bother with going to a zone if it's beastmen controlled Actually, there's good exp, AN and union loot to be had in beastmen controlled areas. The fort itself gives junk exp, but the cap on exp and AN is lifted as soon as a defending wave arrives (even if only those lolimps.) Bring Reraise though, as it's a pretty lonely area.
So I will go PLD/RDM. I read all the posts, but in what order should I cast things? Apparently, stoneskin doesn't help with AN and etc.... I may have been wrong about Aegis Scream- is it for offensive or defensive ops? Edited, Sep 15th 2009 2:05am by marquejonzun it's after 2am here and I'm feeling very stupid... I think Aegis is the defensive one (a reference to the shield, no less). Anyway, PLD/RDM should be okay. You can still cast Slow/Para/Blind/Grav for enfeeble points as long as none of them have been applied by someone else. You'll need to learn to cast them between attack rounds to compensate for you half-level skill, but then again, I would imagine you've done similar with Utsu. As for ...
A good place to go is Beaucedine Glacier (S) with the Shadowwing squad guarding the fort. You can start by pulling the imps and beating the hell out of them for exp. Then you can deal with the Gargouilles. Best part is you don't even have to tank the Gargouilles to get good exp as everyone gets damaged by its AoE. If you can survive that place you are pretty much guaranteed to land full exp. ...
I'll second the Beaucedine suggestion. It's one of the only offensive battle areas that I'll go to because it's so heavily defended (demons, quads, orcs, and yags). On the down side, battles tend to be fairly short. It's a shame that offensive battles are so messed up. Almost any job can solo the imps and if you kill them slowly enough it's very good xp. But you can't fight what doesn't bother...

From what I can tell you're eligible for a new rank every 10k EXP. I really don't buy the Allied Notes theories. As to defensive battles, those are my favorite as long as there are some defenders around. It's completely pointless to whack away at the forts, which is one reason why they are so good, nobody goes to them. Just make sure you can take care of yourself or you're likely to have to ...
Quote: There are no 'category caps' anymore, not since the BRD nerf actually, else my DRK would be capping out that 7k damage in ten minutes flat (5-hit Scythe) and I'd only ever get 700 AN from some battles, when my 2.1k+ says otherwise. Caps are still present. I can pretty much get stuck at around 2.5k-2.8k EXP on SAM/DNC if I don't toss around Flourishes for debuff EXP, but even then I wouldn't get much more than...
Quote: Seriously, PLD/DNC is the hero of campaign. I don't think many jobs can even hold a candle to it in campaign. DRG/mage is pretty sweet in CB as long as you avoid things that will rape your pet.

The category caps still exist, as is obvious for anyone who does a two- or three-hour marathon Campaign and gets half the EXP they should. However, the "BRD" nerf definitely...

Changing tags is all fine...just remember that changing tags resigns you from whatever union you happen to be in. Which would absolutely suck if the battle ended right as you changed...you'd lose out on any loot you'd have a shot at.

PLD/DCN is a monster for campaign. XP for hitting, getting hit, healing, raising, buffing, erasing. On top of that, aspir samba makes you work like duracell. You dont run out of mp. When you do, you use tp for a bit, then go right back to mp. I did some of the longer campaign battles where i got 4.6k xp and 2.3k notes. Somehow that is very weird. Because i was supposed to cap the nots/time amount with that amount of stuff, unless there is...
