Amen sister!!
That is what we did for our two births. When people ask to see the pix, I don't want to have to go through them to censor out the "personal" ones. No video, I...
The birth plan thread got me thinking about this, because two things I want to put in my birth plan are,
1. I want the baby placed on my chest, skin to skin, as soon as possible after birth
2. I don't want any cameras--still or video--in the delivery room.
I haven't told my husband about the cameras request yet, and I'm preparing for him to challenge it. The important people (him, ...
I would only want to be taken a pic when my baby is placed in my arms.
My friend videotaped all her labour. OMG! and she watches it sometimes. I cannot watch it. I would never want to be taped.
My thoughts on this....first of all take into consideration that I am admittedly camera happy! Even so, I initially only wanted to take still shots immediately after the birth, no video camera at all. But then someone whose babies are now teenagers caused me to rethink that position; she told me that she still treasures being able to reexperience the miracle of birth because she has it on ...
I was the same way - no pictures during delivery!! The last thing I wanted was a camera going off while I was trying to have a baby, or even immediately after. I did want pictures of my son as brand spankin' new baby, just not during that time. Once I was out of the birthing tub and baby was wrapped up in a blanket, and was getting weighed and all that fun stuff, I was ok with having pictures ...
I personally want my Husband to take as many pictures as he can. We also have a friends video camera but I am not sure how he will manage doing both.
I am more doing so because I love having pictures as memories, and the fact that my Parent's can't be here, which is really hard on me, this way they can try to live through it with us, through all of our pictures.
I've been on both sides of the camera during a birth. I took the photos of my nephew being born and my sister took the photos of my son. Both times we had discussions about it before hand. NO SHOTS OF THE ACTUAL BIRTH was number 1! I made sure there were no indecent shots of my sister, most of the first shots were of the baby getting his APGAR and being cleaned up in the bassinet. Also I got ...
Since I'm having a c-section I want as many pictures as I can get. Your behind a curtain and its hard to see the baby when they first pull them out. I want to be able to see him and what he looked like right after they pull him out and my only chance of that is pictures.
I also would LOVE to have him on my chest skin to skin but sadly its rare they allow that for c-section mommies. Usually ...
As much as I enjoy the labor and delivery shows on TV (I'm glad some people are cool with cameras, because I'm fascinated if I'm the one watching) I'm not OK with cameras. My MIL insisted on being present when DD was born (a whole other long story) and when I caved on that, I gave her some rules, one of which was NO CAMERAS. I'm just not comfortable with it. I think it's great if you're cool ...
We had the camera there and took pictures AFTER Ben was born but nothing during labour or delivery. I wouldn't want a video camera there. I screamed like a wild woman and swore (a lot) and reliving it is not something high on my list of things to do. Seeing the pics of Ben being weighed, me holding him for the first time and my sister holding him is fantastic but labour and delivery were not ...
You may change your mind. I didn't want to be pictured, but wanted a camera to take picts of the baby and glad I did. I want pictures to be taken for this baby as well. But none of me. May have to ask the doctor about that. This is a new hospital for me.
Wow... I don't like that one bit. I wouldn't like being told what I can do when I'm the one giving birth! We wanted first to video the screen during our first big ultrasound and were told that wasn't allowed. Next time, we tried to take pictures and were shut down. Last time, my husband wanted to record audio (!!!) and they said no way. Liability, sure. But I don't understand exactly how.

DH wants to do a video, but purely for our viewing. I don't see any reason at all for anyone else to need to watch it, but we'd like to be able to watch it later on down the road. I'd rather just do it than not do it and regret it later.
