My new favorite ride This is my new favorite ride. I've rode to Mount Diablo and to Yosemite but Big Trees is now my favorite. Diablo has a lot of bicyclists which makes me nervous. Yosemite has a lot of traffic and pedestrians on the road. Even on a holiday traffic is light up on the way to Big Trees. Below are the pictures Steve took and he wrote the comments: ...

When I lived in Sonora I used to go there. Then back down to Murphy's for a stop at the hamburger stand to see the girl I had crush on.

Nice photos, nice place! We went up there a couple of weeks ago and took the short hike too! (Only had one problem, I started the trail at the end and went through it back wards, we had to get our program after we hiked the trail and see how many numbers we could remember) It was fun but nest time I'll go the right way!

Fascinating. What a ridiculous thing to do, chopping down a 1000 year old tree to attempt to make it into an attraction. What a relief that 'The Stump' has become an attraction in its own right and that it's endured for so long. Great trip report. Thanks Heather. Any more? Stephen

Very nice. Thanks for posting. I go that way every winter to ski Bear and I didn't know the place existed. Now I have to go.

Thanks, ridden by there many times, always meant to stop, never have. Might just have to next time. As I recall the turnoff is rather sudden coming from the east. Long left hand sweeper. Thanks for posting!
