Hey girls, I was just wondering if anyone else still drinks coffee? I was reading some pretty scary stuff about caffeine intake during pregnancy. I was wondering what anyone else has heard??
My nosy, bosy and pushy sister came to one of my apts specifically to try to get the doctor to say I shouldn't be allowed to drink my one cup of coffee in the morning. He said that up to 16 oz of regular coffee was fine per day. It's actually the nitrates in coffee, absorbed through the roots of the plant, which are dangerous. Limit that, and you're good.
My dr told me at my first appt for this pregnancy...NO CAFFEINE! I know a lot of people who have drank it through our their whole pregnancy and everything was fine. I am a FTM so I am just following dr's instruction
i dont drink coffee but i do drink Tea, i normally drink a glass and then switch over to water, doctor never told me not to drink it but i have cut back alot on it
Most doctors and books will tell you to limit caffeine to under 200 mg per day. A cup of coffee or a soda and some chocolate are fine. But you should watch how much you are intaking. If you have a cup of coffee in the morning, you may want to skip out on the caffeinated soda later in the day. I can't tolerate caffeine very well anyway, so avoiding it has been very easy for me to do. But I ...
The studies I've read say that there are no bad effects unless you drink more than 2-3 cups a day.
I've allowed myself 1 cup of either coffee or soda a day (although I didn't drink ANY during the first trimester).
I drink a fair amount of diet soda (and I did with my first two pregnancies as well). The main thing I have read is that caffeine can contribute to first trimester miscarriage, so I try to drink virtually no caffeine the first few months. After that, I just keep an eye on it, but probably drink a few sodas per day (which is equivalent to not much more than a cup or so of coffee). My doctor's ...
Caffeine is a stimulant that affects your nervous system, and it does cross the placenta and affect the baby. Many doctors allow some caffeine during pregnancy, some say none. I do not have any, except what is in the occasional bit of chocolate I eat. My DH is a doctor and he has forbidden it! LOL.
Coffee/ Caffine is not all bad for most pregnate women, But for me Im not allowed to have any at all! :( Iv went though 3 UTI's and the doctor said is was the dark caffine sodas i drink(Not big on coffee). I didnt drink all that much to start with, but i enjoy my dr.peppers so its hard not to get one when I go to the store or out to eat. But unless you just have really bad kidneys or bladders (...
I drink tea and soda, Tea every day, soda not so much but a couple times a week, I have always drank caffeine when I was preggers with my last 2 DD's and everything was fine.
