Thread: CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS FOR ALL!

Started 1 month ago by TBE
Criminal record checks for all! Experts predict it won't be long before every employee in the country is asked to submit to a CRB check if only so bosses can brag that every member of staff is cleared to work with children or vulnerable people. But won't that lead to thousands of previously unknown wrongdoings coming to light, and subsequently mass sackings? The Wright Stuff

I think this is ridiculous costly and unnecessary. I have had an enhanced CRB check when required for the job but I don't see that I should need one if the position doesn't require it. It's the nanny state into overdrive again.

i dont see the point either, if your not working with 'vunerable' people then why do you need it? i have just had to have a new CRB done purely becuase i changed job title, to me this is stupid, i havnt left the school im working in and my Enhanced CRB hadn't expried but becuase my title has changed i had to be re processed, not that im bothered becuase i have no need to be i just think its a...

Will we have to pay for the checks? J

Here's an idea that'll speed up the process: require everyone to wear badges on their outer clothing that declares what crimes they've been convicted of. ALL crimes.

I have an idea - all convicted paedophiles should have a great big letter P tattooed on their foreheads.

Here in this freaking Country, the right to privacy, the right to bare arms, the right to be a idiot and so on and on..

Ichigo Kurosaki replied 4 weeks, 1 day ago
There is no "right" to privacy.

Banner Dude replied 4 weeks, 1 day ago
Is there a right to privacy in the Constitution? Well, I searched my copy of the Constitution of the United States and I couldn't find the word privacy anywhere in the document. I also searched the Constitution and I couldn't find the word marriage either. Does that mean I don't have a right to be married - that a so-called "right to marriage" was invented by some bleeding-heart liberal judge...

I have seen employers use BCs as a means of blackmailing workers to work off-book. That "example" you gave has the job because someone in power thinks they can use her criminal record in a future scapegoating. I've seen it.

It wouldn't stand up to a tribunal in this country so it's simply not the case where the Council is concerned. Nor was she employed for that reason. That was just one example I do know of others but I'm not going to go into it. It's not just black and white when it comes to criminal records. Not everyone is some evil villain for one minor mistake in their past nor should it be held against them or make them unemployable...

I have nothing to hide, don't own a gun. if I owned a business I would not employ someone with a criminal record to work for me, but that won't happen in a million years anyway eh
