This sucks! "Now known as WRXP, the station will feature such artists as... Bruce Springsteen (old and tired), Nirvana (druggie dead lead singer - grunge is dead too), The Who (child porn viewers), Oasis (think too highly of their "talent"), R.E.M.(gay), and Radiohead (who??)
This is really sad news for people who enjoy something different on the radio. There is nothing innovative about the same old rock format you can find on various stations in the NY area. Jazz musicians may not get the same attention as the rock bands backed by huge record companies, but there is so much talent and intelligent jazz music that won't get through the airwaves now since it seems ...
I was shocked to here a different format of music coming out of my car radio. I thought I had pushed the wrong button by mistake. I heard a new voice announce, thanking the listners for sticking around for the last half hour with the new format. Oh no, I guess a good thing has come to an end. Now I will have to reprogram my radio's for some other different station to wake up to in the morning. ...
What a welcomed change. That smooth jazz was boring, depressing and lifeless. I love the new format. It's a great mix of old and new. All great picks. Keep up the great work.

Please. Thank God that another "Smooth Jazz" station has gone to the dogs. Smooth Jazz is a joke. This phony Jazz has put the Jazz industry in the dumps. I love Jazz. Straight Ahead Jazz that is and experimental Jazz. Jazz is supposed to be alive, engaging ang full of surprise. Not Jazz by numbers. Boring. Stale. If you go to a successful Jazz Fest. or club ...
Ashley Rogers wrote: Another sad day for New Yorkers or anyone who was able to listen to CD 101.9 on the regular. We dont need another rock or hip hop station. Give us our jazz back!! These new owners can go to hell! They have forced me to put Sirius radio in my car and I have found a station that has a format very equal to CD 101.9 which was renamed WATERCOLORS on chanel 71. The former name was Jazz Cafe. WATERCOLORS has definately took away...
Maybe Clear Channel or another one of Emmis's competitors would take this opportunity to fill the void left by Emmis and start a new Smooth Jazz station. This would be a good opportunity for any broadcast company.
Lost Rights James Bovard wrote: <quoted text> Bad move. Put RXP back on and skip over any OTHER rock stations you have. I don't know how long this will last but this station that has replaced CD 101 ,while it's not jazz - It's Good NO Great Rock and Roll. They might be playing Bruce Springsteen, but they're playing 10th avenue Freeze out - NOT - Born in the USA for the umpteen millionth time. Here are songs I...
Altheda from Delaware wrote: I moved to Delaware not long ago and dread the fact that there isn't a station like CD 101.9. When I visited NYC months ago I naturally tuned into 101.9 to find this rock stuff. I assumed that the MOVED the station. It is now today that I have found out that there is no such station in NYC. Unreal! Who, What, and How??? Who, What, and How??? i understand but the last post prior was sept of '08. smooth...
Well, Punky...it's business and the radio business is down right now. Radio companies all over are cutting back or changing direction. It's a shame. They blamed declining ratings, but there's also been big problems selling air time all over. I would bet that was the big problem. So many companies are hiring rookie sales people who don't know the station they are selling and how to sell and there's more and more...
Your comments are bias and stereotypical. What kind of craze are YOU!!! I am not black and I am 100% straight!!! This station is not about RACE OR GENDER -- KEEP THAT TOPIC FOR A DIFFERENT DISCUSSION -- WE ARE DISCUSSING MUSIC MR. TOM ROCK HEAD!!!!! WE WANT CD 101.9 BACK -- END OF CONVERSATION. Tom Renney wrote: There are only twop types of people that like Jazz. 1) Old generation blacks 2) Homosexuals We don't need that sort of station...
I am sick to have lost a wonderful smooth jazz radio station like CD101.9. I have been listening to the station since moving to CT in 1989. Pittsburgh lost its smooth jazz station several years also. Even though I have sirrus radio, I continued to tune into CD101.9 on a regular basis. In addition, 101.9 was my avenue for smooth jazz concerts and other informative jazz news. The bottom is, the lost of 101.9 makes me sick. Please smooth jazz...
I feel the same way. Sirius has three jazz stations, one plays Boney James and Al Jerau. I will be humming the jingle as well. Maria from Brooklyn NY wrote: Not good, not good. I am greatly disappointed! My favorite radio station is gone. No more smooth jazz CD 101.9. What a sad day in radio history. To the management responsible for making this horrible decision .... you can run, but you can't hide. The rhythm is gonna get ya. Slowly but...
Yes, Watercolors is a great station! I can also listen to it over the computer if I wanted. Maria from Brooklyn NY wrote: And if anyone wants to know where I'll be tuning in from here on in, it's Watercolors on XM. In between songs, I'll just have to hum the tune ...
