Apparently the location this happened has been the site of many accidents recently. S Curve in a construction site. Almost always the second turn that gets you.

Too bad the driver died. They had a bad accident
a few weeks back and the curve is lit up like a Christmas tree by Caltrans, so he had lots of warning. Driver going too fast for conditions like usual.
Heres an update on this crash.
Bridge design is poor,or truckers are going to fast,either way there have been 40 crashes on this bridge in a short period of time.
My opinion is that obeying the speed limit is the best way to make it to where you want to go. Beware the Bay Bridge S-Curve | NBC Bay Area
There are the famous Bridges in the North East as well as I-95 just in New Jersey that are considerably older and exceedingly more dangerous yet there are few when at all reports of Vehicles plunging off them, so go figure.
Drivers obviously only in the Bay area are exceptionally incompetent when it comes to Curves of Bridges and seemingly have not a good idea how to proceed.
