Thread: CALs for EBS 2008 based on an honour system?

Does Technet Plus Direct provide any paper CALs for testing EBS 2008 (Essential Business Server)? If not how are we suppose to test EBS? I was told that, you do not have to enter the CALs, because it is based on an honour system. Has anyone had experience of this in EBS2008? Can technet plus direct subscription send me paper CALs? if so how do we request for them? The biggest problem is during the testing stage i don't to pay for 5pack...

This is the SBS group, but I'll give you the best info I've got on EBS. EBS does enforce CALs - there's a whole part of the management console designed to allocate CALs to users or devices. I believe there is a 30-day period after installation of the management server where it doesn't enforce licensing, and hopefully that'll be long enough for your purposes. Also, I'm pretty sure that retail EBS includes 5 CALs...
