Good morning, runners. Wow, yesterday was unusually slow on the board! I had a lovely run, and I'm hoping for a nice bike ride today. I have a newbie question for you all: We know that conventional wisdom says not to increase your distance by more than 10%/week, but I'm not sure how far/long that is. Last week, I ran 11.5 miles, about. So, 10% of ...

Ha. Not beautiful here. The rain from Ida has left but it's very foggy. I'm headed out for a walk soon. Potter, I'm so glad your running is going so well again. To answer your question about ski season....we ski at Sugarbush. The mountain always sets it's goal for opening day to be the Saturday before Thanksgiving, weather permitting. Some years ...

morning potter and amy. yesterday just ran away from me...oh well-- down 1.6 at WI this week --amazing what tracking does for my brain. LR for me today-- schedule says 4, but since all my LR's recently have been 6, i'll drop back to 5 and proceed from there... potter--sounds like a good plan. that's the general rule i've heard too---- your run/...

Hi Ladies, I'm back running the One Hour Runner and finished week 4, day 1 yesterday on a treadmill (yuk). I have an issue with my IT band and MD gave me handout on exercises/stretches. Regarding your question about how much to increase you distance. I would say to listen to your body. If you are fairly certain that you could handle 10% then try it. ...

sandra --great to "see" you here today. Funny thing is i was thinking of both you and sherry today on my run as we haven't heard from either of you in a while ---glad to hear things are going well --you are amazingly close to goal, and look GREAT in your new photo.... completed 6 miles today (ok, so the best laid plans didnt work) --i need me a Garmin...

Hi, all. Sandra it's good to see you back. You're taking your time and gradually increasing your runs - slowly - sounds just right. Jackie, I need me a Garmin too. Yesterday was supposed to be 6 miles and I ran 6.4 because I followed sidewalk instead of road (the street I was supposed to be on went straight but the sidewalk I was on turned, so, so did...

Had a run tonight. I guess it was a good run. I picked up the pace and averaged a 12 minute mile, which is the fastest I've ever done. My legs could have gone on, but my breathing was really hard. Afterward, I noticed on my HRM that my max HR was 211! Yikes! And yet again, the three dogs at the entrance to the subdivision ran out at me. Owner comes out ...

Today was mostly a rest day, with some walking in Manhattan for a couple of APs. I'm also a fan of increasing mileage/time very gradually. I also overdid it my first year by trying to follow a training plan from my local running store (5 days a week! that just didn't work for me). So I'm being extremely conservative right now. Interesting re the ...

Yesterday was supposed to be 6 miles and I ran 6.4 because I followed sidewalk instead of road (the street I was supposed to be on went straight but the sidewalk I was on turned, so, so did I. I must have been in a zone, because I ran at least 2/10th of a mile before I...
