Ever since I sold my last 1911, I have kicking myself. Due to the generosity of a Vegas casino, I am now in the market for a replacement. It will be a shooter and probably used for L10 matches too.
Been looking at the Custom II...is that a good choice? Does the Custom II have the external extractor? Didn't hit the Mega Bucks so I do have a budget.
I use my Custom II for IDPA and IPSC competition since it's what I carry. All I've done is change the grips. Any new Custom II will have an internal extractor. Mine gets ridden hard and put away wet. I've never had problems with it, and it's going on 6,000 soon.
Like nking said, it will have an internal extractor. And the gun should be as reliable as any in Kimber's lineup.....IMO it is the best value in their entire line.
Read a recent review of the Para GI Expert. $599 and is a cast frame....also does not have a GS. When you add in the GS and a few other things to make it comparable to the Custom II, the price is not that far off, and you wind ...
Custom II will be a great gun for you. For a litTLE more you can also get the TLE II Custom, which is another great gun (got mine for $840 off gunbroker).
One of the Forum members, I can't remember who, said "Kimber's Custom II is their best kept secret"...meaning for value, quality and reliability.
I have the TLE and couldn't be happier. It was flawless out of the box and continues to be 100% reliable after 5000 rounds. I swap carry with it and my other 1911's and also use it for the range. It's a tack driver and workhorse.
As far ...

I have in Kimber:
1. 8 Kimber Raptors, 2 of each in each size ( eight )
2. Kimber Royal Blue ( one )
3. Kimber Custom II blue ( two )
4. Kimber Gold Match stainless ( two )
5. Kimber Custom II Stainless ( two )

All of my Kimbers are extreme shooters. I've retired my carry weapon of 22 years, the Safari Arms Matchmaster, in place of a ...
Thank you for the input. I took a look at the TLE and I like the checkering on the front of the grip but don't know if I want the nite sights... Anyone know if the target ver sights have the same width notch/post as the Custom II and TLE? Thanks again!

I have both, the finish on the Custom II will wear faster, but I absolutely do NOT like the kimpro finish. It's too damn slick. If your hands are wet, or bloody it is nigh onto impossible to rack the slide. I've had my Kimber Warrior Metaloyed along with my Custom II that I use in my ccw rotation.
