You need to start dealing with this in writing by recorded delivery : never ever speak to debt collectors on the phone. Ask again for proof that this debt is yours, there may be template letters on a sticky on the Debt-free Wannabe board to help you do this. Debt collectors have to be able to prove debts or they are unenforceable - it's for them to liaise with SP. As others have said, get your bank statements together as you should have...

Average Electric & Gas Usage

Helena is right, For a gas heated property where heating hasn't been used the gas readings make a lot of sense, however the electric readings are quite high, and something needs to be looked at. Take up Helena's offer of speaking with their energy efficiency team and seeing if that consumption can be cut back - in most cases large savings can be made without too drastic a change in lifestyle. In addition see if you cna take...

They should have two controls. One determines how much heat they store automatically during the off-peak hours. The second dial controls how slowly or quickly they release the stored heat over the following day. It depends on the model how this second dial is used. If you aren't at home during the day you obviously want to limit how much is released before you come home. Easiest thing to do is to google the make and model of the heaters...

Why don't you take your own meter reading and work out what you are actually using? Then you can negotiate a DD with them that reflects your real usage.

These appear to be dual storage and convector heaters, the storage part should be wire to a separate circuit and automatically controlled by a radio teleswitch, (assuming you are on an Economy 7 tarriff). The convector which would run on day rate electricity should be used sparingly.
