Started 1 month ago by Broncoboy80
I got an SVT motor and tranny to put into my sedan and also got all the wiring. One question though. They guy didnt give me the keys and steering wheel to his car. Can i still make this work without them? I know our cars have the PAT security system and the computer chip is different in every car. Is there a way to make this work without the svt motors keys and steering wheel, and ...

yeh, i believe u can even use your current system. i dont think the steering/ ignition key starter wouldnt matter in the swap.

it will work. in order for it to do so you have to take the car on a trailer to a ford dealership and have them reprogram the keys to the new computer. i know because i have done 2 swaps now. i have done a zx3 to svt and a spi to a dohc zetec. it cost me about $40.

ChuckDee replied 1 month ago
or cant u just bring the ecu to them? seems easier.

u can prob find some 1 to do it for u after work or on a day off, a guy that used to work at ford programmed my truck keys when we did a computer swap

no because you have to turn the key on to reprogram the pats transponder as well. they have to be programmed together. its a little more complex than most perceive it to be

Ok ok. I see. So i should just trailer it over to ford and have them do it? And your sure its that cheap???? And Im almost done with the swap but nothing in the engine bay seems to match up. The headlights and front indicators are a different connection then mine. This sucks..... I guess ill have to splice into them and make new ones

it cost me $36 plus taxes. my headlights are the same way. i spliced into them and my brights are stuck on permanently. and if you flip the switch for brights both the high and low beams come on. its been this way for a year and my brights just blew out.

NeweracapMAN replied 4 weeks ago

The car you got the harness from was probably an EAP, which would explain the non-swappable plugs. If you hack them, I'll gladly take the old ones off your hands
