Most players with dts-MA decoding seem to have "DTS Master Audio Essential" decoders which require a separate digital bitstream connection to an AVR for ES, 96/24, and Neo:6 decoding. Does anyone know which players have Master Audio decoders that can also handle the legacy extensions?

Yes, and some may prefer to use LPCM over bitstream for a number of reasons (secondary audio, some avr's can't post-process/decode concurrently). There is a need on these players to force LPCM even to an HDMI 1.3 avr for these reasons. The whole secondary audio issue is a bit nebulous in respect to what exactly these newer players are doing.
