Thread: Blueboard vs Greenboard?

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by jmoniz06
Hi, I am having my old bathroom taken down to the lathes and need to know people's thoughts about blueboard vs greenboard. I am very concerned about mold and think we should use greenboard, but my contractor doesn't think it's necessary and we should use blueboard instead. Does any have any thoughts on this? Thanks!

if its a full on washroom then yes use blueboard, but where the shower/tub is use denseshield, or concrete board. greenboard and blueboard both still have the potential for mold if its constantly getting wet, where as concrete board and denseshield are mold proof as they do not contain paper that mold loves

blue board is for hardcoat plaster green board also called m. r. board or moisture resistant board is for areas like bath rooms I prefer to use the new fiberglass board for the wet areas.
