Last month I paid off my student loans. Yep, balance -0-!!!! That was my only/last debt other than my mortgage. Now, I pay mortage and utilities, insurances, etc... I FEEL LIKE DANCING!!! Now, as I start adding that $632 a month to savings instead of paying on a loan....I think I'll cruise to Alaska next year as planned!! Woo hooo,, yippeee. Oh, and YES I ...
Nanacy Pelosi will tax your new found money. It's not fair that you are responsible while so many blow their money. VAT VAT VAT!!! By the way--congrats! A society that puts equality...ahead of freedom will end up with neither equality nor freedom. Milton Friedman

Congrats! Now, before you take that vacation, set a near term savings/investment goal and get there first. Then, reward yourself with a vacation. Financial Literacy. The difference between the "haves" and "have nots".

Excellent, job well done! Not that i am in a position to yet, but they (the experts) say you should try to build have a 6 month emergency fund first. I have to laugh, because i find myself agreeing with bunny (Nancy Pelosi), perhaps we do have something in common.
six months of emergency reserves are fine in most "normal" economic environments. In today's very uncertain economic situation where job growth will likely be constrained due to higher anticipated taxes and minimum wages, I think 1 year would be more like it. If you lost a job today, could you find another one in one year? In today's economy, the answer may be "no"....
Way to go Chirple! It can be done, by folks who really want to get it done!! CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [Sometimes I sits and thinks...sometimes I just sits...]
Fantastic! Don't lose that drive...stick with it for the next 40 years and you will retire a very wealthy person. Run the numbers on a retirement savings calculator and you will be shocked at the amount of money you will have at age 65. This is the kind of story I like to tell at my financial literacy seminars. Good job!!!!! Financial Literacy. The difference between the "haves" and "have nots".
I so value your opinion kaleb--thanks for sharing A society that puts equality...ahead of freedom will end up with neither equality nor freedom. Milton Friedman
