Thread: Birth control drugs and breast cancer

( This is interesting. Here in the UK, The Pill has been rather out of favour for a long time, and as far as I am aware, doctors don't like prescribing once you go into your 40s. , )

( I was certainly in my 40's when prescribed to me and took for several years. My Ob/Gyn \(then\) never mentioned any age issues. , )

( I never took birth control pills or any type of estrogen replacement yet here I am. My sister did take bc pills and continues on low \(lower since I got bc\) dose estrogen. She's 7 years older then me and so far, so good for her. , )

( CP - just out of interest, I took the Progesterone only pill until I was about 43. But over here, in general terms, the GPs have been anti contraceptive pill and also HRT \(except for very specific reasons\) for donkeys' years. ( I took the contraceptive pill for most of my fertile life with the exception of two pregnancies and breast feeding. When I hit 40 I asked my GP should I give up - he advised me to keep taking it until I was 50 and then give up and I would probably go straight into menopause. I was dx with BC at 45 - no one ever told me to give up the pill !!! After dx I sat with the pack in my hand ...
