Thread: Best movie western ever

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by 901Club
Best movie western ever? It\'s a question. The thread on High Noon made me think. It\'s on my list. Give your list. Everybody\'s got a favorite or two. Here\'s some of my other choices (amazing how lucky James Stewart and John Wayne were, to be cast in the such great roles) -- Not necessarily in order: The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance ~ James Stewart, John Wayne The Searchers ~ John...

Personally, I like tombstone just behind Unforgiven.

Tombstone was great. I liked Rio Bravo, The Searchers, Hombre, and Silverado.

Wow, great list. Would have to pick Red River, Shane and one you don\'t have on the list. A minor classic called The Gunfighter with Gregory Peck (even if the sun of a b. wouldn\'t give me an autograph when I was kid.) Yeah Greg I still remember. Karl Malden was also in it.

Let me add this classic... Death of a Gunfighter. If you look closely, you\'ll see my director\'s credit in the lower left. Historic. My first film. Actually got some good reviews: "Sharply directed by Allen Smithee who has an adroit facility for scanning faces and extracting sharp background detail", (New York Times); "Smithee\'s direction keeps the action taut and he draws convincing portrayals from...
