Hi guys, Just got HP Pavilion a6827c-b desktop for my birthday and so far its great. The only thing that bothers me is the integrated graphic card, its really not so good for games. So i want to upgrade,i have a budget of 125$ to get a new graphic card.I would like to get some decent graphic card that will allow me to play most of the games that are currently out or will be out soon.I do not ...

my vote goes for this XFX HD-477A-YDFC Radeon HD 4770 512MB only $109 and has free shipping and will last for a while and should work with your current system

Looks good mate,i am kinda more Nvidia type of guy but the reviews of this one sound pretty neat.... Any suggestions when it comes to some Nvidia GForce card? Edit: What do you guys think about Sapphire 100245HDMI Radeon HD4850 512MB?

mitanesic replied 2 months ago
But isnt the one i found cheaper and has bigger power? Yeah i understand that i found it in wall mart and its some, not so famous, manufacturer but right now i can only afford cheap stuff and the reviews for this PSU are pretty good....

mitanesic replied 2 months ago
Sorry for the bump but cmon guys, are you tech support or what?!

Ritwik7 replied 2 months ago
The HD 4850 is also a very good pick. It will perform slightly better than the HD 4770 but will consume a lot more power. Your PSU will not be enough for either card infact.

mitanesic replied 2 months ago
@Ritwik7 What do you mean by psu will not be enough, its too....weak?Does that mean that the card will not work right? Guys have in mind that im not that into computers,so i might ask some nobbish question.... @TomSEA They both look good but im not sure i can afford the first one, unless i find some money on the street. But the thing thats kinda confusing me is that,as much as i know, the G ...

I didn't notice the Power Supply until Ritwik7 mentioned it. No doubt about it, that 300w one won't run a system with a decent card at all. You'll need to get at least a 450w power supply. The "G" series cards are new technology and built more efficiently. That's why they're cheaper. To be honest though, I'd break away from your nVidia preference and go with the ATI cards recommended ...

Oh crap, you guys are right my power supply does suck....The budget just went down for the gfx,as much as i see PSUs cost around 40$....which one would you recommend? Im pissed.... Edit: Will this one do the trick? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=8245 532

Ritwik7 replied 2 months ago
Consider this PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W

If you can spare an extra $25, then GTS 250 is the best nVidia card you can get. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Galaxy+-...=1218102200 449 If you're absolutely stuck at the $125 price, then get a GT 220: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/PNY+-+NV...=1218121949 861

Something great happened today,i got some extra money that raised my budget to 200$! So i was thinking to spend 150$ on a gfx and 50$ on a psu.... Someone here mentioned Nvidia g250,what power supply will it require in order to work normally? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Galaxy+-...=1218102200449

At about $205 you could get this combination: BFG Tech GS-550 550W + XFX Radeon HD 4870 1GB The HD 4870 will provide much, much better performance over the GTS 250. The PSU will do decently for a single card.

Gratz on getting the extra bling-bling. I'd recommend a minimum 500W power supply.

I suggest getting a different Card and PSU. Graphics Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130469 PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139008 The only reason I'm suggesting the Graphics Card over the other one you picked it's like $10 more but you get a Lifetime Warranty. The PSU and the Graphics Card I picked out have a $20 Mail in Rebate.

You can get the new Radeon HD 5750 ($129 at newegg) which will actually let you play most recent games with good details, and normally should not necessitate change of PSU (I use it with 350W and no probs). Forget the HD 4850 though, you would need a quality PSU for that one.

But I have this exact same model pc, the only thing thats different is mine doesnt have a -b at the end. I was unable to play tropico 3, kept on getting a message that said I needed a video card that was directx9 compatible and shader 3.0 compat so after reading parts of this thread I decided to buy a Geforce 220 off of ebay. It was new and only 50sum after shipping and I was hoping it wasnt powerful enough to force me to buy a new psu....
