My guess is, whether or not he replaced the spring with the factory one or not, it seems like you got a weak one. If this is the case, not only will your hands, shoulder, and cheek pay a price but so can the bolt assembly on the gun. I have taken springs out of the bolt spring tube and stretched them a bit. Obviously, this isn't something I'd do all the time, but I have done it ...

Thanks everyone. I believe the problem is solved. The initial gunsmith (no longer a Benelli dealer) did not tell me that he had placed the original action spring (the old one) back in the gun......even after telling me it needed a new one. He admitted that today. Cleaning it up had corrected the recycling issue and solved his ordering problem, but at seven years old it has to ...

I realize you have already solved the issue, but you might consider the Sure Cycle. I have definetly noticed a difference in preformance in the guns that I put this spring into. I have also noticed that it is much more corrosive resistant than the factory Benelli spring.... Just a though....

Jim, I don't know how this gun mounts for you but most guns from the factory are too long for a man of your size, and many average size men in general. If you don't have any issues with this then disregard. However, if you're going to change the pad, you'd be surprised what removing a half inch can do. I have never been afraid to cut any gun, regardless of value. In fact it's only of ...

The Limbsaver I ordered will not change the length of the gun. It is the same thickness as the pad that is now on the gun (which will be removed). The gun has always been a perfect fit from the moment I tried it off the rack (new).

Hoytman replied 1 month, 2 weeks ago
I surely didn't think you'd order a different sized pad Jim. Thinner would probably not afford you the protection you need and longer would...well, lengthen the gun. Glad you got it fixed.

I would go ahead and get the 25% extra mag. spring aswell..........it really feeds well especially if it gets extremely dirty or really cold..........All the Benelli guys I hunt with have done this and all feel it is a great cheap upgrade !!!

Never heard of the Wolff. Are they stainless like the sure cycle? Jim, you definately saved yourself some headache, literally. A friend of mine had a similar problem with a Winchester Super X2 12 gauge, just last winter towards the end of duck season. It was beating hiim up pretty badly, until one day the bolt spring "tube" let go right at the back of the reciever. It just sheared ...

Quote: "I would go ahead and get the 25% extra mag" It was shipped US Priority Friday. Between this forum and Google searches, it was easy to get good, consistent advice. What I don't understand is the gunsmith at the local sport shop stringing me along with the idea that he ordered a new action spring from Benelli (because a "new one was needed") ...

Reading that Jim, I caught myself in a reaction like someone had kicked me between the legs. Gosh that must have hurt. It hurt me just reading about it. Got to be careful out there by yourself. Better train them dogs to put you on a gurny and pull you to safety, along with them being able to fetch life jackets . EDIT: I think I'd be finding another gunsmith. Even though you may not have presented all the information in the correct manner,...
