There was a thread recently about the other milks that our LOs drink. I know there were a lot of mentions about soy, almond, rice, organic and something else I want to say.
Can someone give me a brief synopsis of the health/nutritional benefits of the other milks? And I think someone said there was controversy about soy (maybe?) -- what controversy?
I'm so clueless about anything other ...
It kicked in for me about 6mo postpartum. It was really getting to the point where I couldn't even grit my teeth through it.. I would almost get frantic (in my head screaming GET OFF ME). Like you it was entirely a physical reaction.. emotionally the thought of weaning would nearly make me cry. I don't know that we really managed to work through it. We did counting, I offered snuggles (that ...
My son is 2 1/2 and still wakes up a few times a night. I am so tired today...last night was bad.
Honestly I think that some crying is probably going to happen if you want to make the change but it doesn't have to be CIO.
My dh and I worked on getting my ds to fall asleep without nursing, my dh would put him to bed and stay with him until he was asleep. Yes my ds cried and was quite angry,...
My son still wakes in the middle of the night a few times to nurse. Sometimes he has good nights where he only wakes up twice but lately it has been awful. I didn't mind before but I am starting to get frustrated with it. Part of my frustration probably has to do with me being pregnant so I am even more tired and I am worried what will I do with an infant and a toddler not sleeping at night.

Hello all. I'm new to this group but am in need of some advice and guidance. My second child is now a year old. I have no desire to wean her and my husband is supportive of me EBF.
My dilema is this: She currently only nurses 3-5 times a day, two of her sessions are right before nap and bed time. I would like to stop nursing her as part of her bed time routine so that my husband or ...
My problem is that if I wean her from those two sessions, that's going to kill my supply and mean she's only nursing 1-2 times a day.
That's actually not true. Your supply will adjust for what she needs. So though your supply will go down since you're nursing less, it will still meet her specific needs.
Good luck getting rid of the bedtime routine session. For most kids, that's the ...
It was the first one we got rid of with our oldest. It was rough, but she managed okay. She, however, was still nursing 8-12 times a day at 14 months, so I wasn't as worried.
Congrats of hitting a year!!!!!
I tried night weaning my first since he still woke 5 times a night at 18 months. It took 4 months, but I did it. But he still woke up asking to nurse despite me not night nursing!! I figured I could be more stubborn than him. I was wrong. I gave into night nursing more than a year later - he woke up asking for 14 months every single night before that! I ...
Dear rocknmoma,
It's tough, trying to let them self wean - my 2 1/2 year old son has no desire to stop either, but I know it's time since we want to TTC & I'd like to have a little break between the kids. I'm okay with continuing occasional nursing for comfort & bonding during the day, but I'm so over having to wake up in the middle of the night to calm down a little one asking for "Mommy ...
These are some great comments. It's nice to hear how others are dealing with the same situation.
momsangel03, night weaning a toddler in order to night-nurse a newborn makes so much sense...
For me personally, I prefer the term full-term breastfeeding. But I don't think we should jump to a name change for the board. I mean, many many women who BF past a year don't really do "full term breastfeeding". I think it would alienate the many woman who come here who plan to wean at 18 months or 2 years or whatever... They need support too, and if this was only a board for "full term" breastfeeding, they may...
Oh wait, I know what video you're talking about now.? There's another one that I started watching too, about a young guy who was all offended....whatever.? I was so angry watching it I couldn't even finish it.
When DS bites me, I tell him, "No," and unlatch him. ?If he bites me a second time, the nursing session is over. To unlatch him, I either pinch his nose or smoosh his face into my boob so his nose is blocked. ?He lets go right away. As Tam said, if LO is biting you, he's not actively nursing. ?If LO is properly latched, with a good amount of the areola in his mouth, and is actively nursing, he can't bite you. ?It's...
ok so i went to the equality bill rptest video on you tube and this is a comment i saw that just made me think of how many idiots live on this planet, people like this make me want to go live in a village. ugh. i know its sort of immature to go and past this but im so angry i dont want to suffer alone!! "this is the weirdest thing i have ever seen. Sure thing guys feed your kids whenever they need it, but like buddy boy said earlier...
a friend and I were discussing the importance of breastfeeding recently and I was overjoyed to have someone IRL to talk to about it! She happened to ask at some point if I nurse on demand. Of course I do! When she asked why I rattled off how it helps bring in and establish a good milk supply, meets more than just hunger needs in babies, etc (you guys know all the reasons!). She looked appalled and told me how her sister told her when she was...
