Thread: Battery Charger, this looks good but who knows

Started 4 months, 2 weeks ago by trader007
http://www.pacificbattery.com/schaue...a_charger.h tml it has great specs, and good price. but the store that sells them is slightly questionable, and you cannot buy these anywhere else. what i want is a plug on the front of my truck i can just plug an extension cord into and have the truck's battery charged automatically. i also like this one with 16 amps, because i could run my...

The mfr site is http://www.battery-chargers.com/ There's a manual there. It looks decent for a compact size, and would most likely be a plug and forget. It doesn't have a volt/amp display which is sometimes useful or a high amp crank mode for impatient people. But 16A is more than plenty to leave all your stuff turned on. The smart ones can get a little confused though when you ...

ive seen that site, but i dont see where they have specific manuals. there are sales promo data sheets, but they are vague as far as the actual operation. there really isnt much else out there in this price range. the REAL charger/inverters cost $200+, those would be nice but overkill for my setup. i just need something cheap that will run my entertainment and also keep the battery in ...

Search for Schumacher on eBay. Cheaper than wal-mart. There really isn't much to operating them. That one has 2 or 3 buttons. Connect battery, plug it in, select amps, battery type and start. When done unplug, remove clips. You'll never see a spark if done in that order.

hell no. thats what i do now. i need plug and play. i plan on mounting the charger inside the engine compartment and just have a male 120v plug hanging out the grill. so when i pull up when i get home ill just grab the extension cord and plug the truck in. this way i can fire up my pc with by my keychain remote and use logmein from the house to work on the truckpc.

Ah, got it. You need something fully automatic like this http://store.schumachermart.com/se-1-12s.html but with more power. I don't think that other one will start when you plug it in, and there probably isn't anything auto near 16A. I've actually been able to get away with only using a charger at 2A while accessing the PC which takes 4A minimum for several hours. I go out at look and it's...

ive been using a black and decker 15amp one that is somewhat intelligent, and i find that after hours of the pc being on it continues to charge at 4-5amps. i would like to have something that will last indefinitely, just in case the pc freezes or something while i forget about it. also, the extra power i want for times when im tailgating- just grab power from somewhere and i can run the ...

That would be nice. Heat issues could be the reason why they don't make higher amp weatherproof ones. That 5A one looks like it has a pretty good size heatsink. The Schauar one has a cooling fan so it's not going to be weatherproof. It's a no-win!

trader007 replied 4 months, 1 week ago
not to worried about that. it stays dry under my hood, and when i do wash it i would just cover the charger up. 5amps just really isnt enough. however, i suppose it would be OK in the future if i add a second battery since that alone will give me extended run times. really dont want another battery though, thats a lot more wiring and changing over old circuits and stuff... i just ...

damn i think i found it! http://www.batterystuff.com/battery-...s/GU2612A.h tml or this one, a couple more amps but not waterproof- http://www.batterystuff.com/battery-...AC0891-41.h tml

I like the first one as long as 10A is enough. I think you found it too. The other says indoor, has a fan so it's open, and avoid heat exposure? That might not last long.
