hi where on the DVD dose it say this?

It isn't based on a true story. Maybe you're confusing it with something else? I've never seen it advertised as a true story.

It takes place in New Jersey. Every politician and law enforcer is crooked. Im sure this all really happened. The only difference is that there was no cop to save the day.

it says on the australian dvd cover that it is based on a true story! its probably wrong though.

Yep sorry for late reply thats the version I have because I'm from Australia. Just under the title. So is this just a case of whoever designed the jacket for Australia went "hey lets tell them its a true story, might spark some more interest in it"

I'm Australian and didn't even notice the cover said this - just checked it and yeah it does say its based on a true story, though I really doubt it is.

Well, not for nuthin but "Fargo" says in the opening credits that its based on a true story, and it ISN'T. There is no law regarding a movie claiming to be a true story, based on a true story, based on actual events, etc . . . You can say whatever you want. So, who knows, Australia being so far removed from New Jersey, maybe some bonehead thought it would help sell more DVDs by putting ...
